COOKING TIPS
Preheating not only the unit but also the grill plate, cooking pan and/or air fryer
basket is essential. It gives you good grill marks, crisp air-fried foods and nicely
browned surfaces. Ensure that the cooking pot, grill plate and/or cooking basket is
already in place before you begin the preheat. When the preheat ends, adding food and
closing the lid will automatically start the cook timer. Otherwise, the unit will beep every
30 seconds up to 3 minutes as a reminder to add the food. After 3 minutes, the cook timer
will automatically begin counting down. CAUTION: Be careful when adding food after
preheating as the interior of the fryer will be hot.
For crisp air-fried foods, oil lightly. Some foods, especially if fresh, benefit from being
tossed with a little oil in a separate bowl before frying. However, high-fat foods, like a well-
marbled steak, or prepared foods usually require no additional oil.
Don't overcrowd the basket or grill plate. Too much food, especially if tightly packed, can
inhibit browning and crisping. A better bet: Cook food in batches.
Shake the basket during cooking for even cooking. A good shake is especially beneficial
for smaller items like french fries, onion rings and chicken wings. For larger or more fragile
foods, consider gently tossing or flipping for even results.
Use silicone or wood utensils to avoid scratching nonstick surfaces.
When baking small items like cookies, scoop dough onto foil or parchment so you can
quickly transfer to the preheated unit. You must preheat with the cooking pan in place.
Check on foods early. Check foods on the earlier side of cooking time; you can always slide
the basket back in to continue cooking.
Follow food-safety guidelines for doneness. Because grill temperatures and food sizes
can vary, do not rely solely on recipe timing when cooking food. Check foods for doneness
against current safety guidelines before serving.
Let foods rest. Most large cuts of meat (and even individual-size portions) are best when
they are allowed to rest for a few minutes before serving.
