3.2. Mounting with fixing screw (EDC-S)
Place the EDC on the previously cleaned register and
fasten it with two fixing screws as shown in picture
5. Then stick the two yellow adhesive security seal
stickers over the screws. If necessary the water
meter lid has to be changed against the supplied lid
which is fitting with the EDC

Attention:
Before retrofitting the EDC modules,
make sure that the register is free of dirt
and that the EDC can be mounted as
intended.
Make sure that the EDC is positioned correctly and
check that the EDC sits horizontally on the
register. Improper mounting as shown in the f
ollowing sketches (Fig. 6) prevent reliable scanning
of the modulator disc and lead to differences
between the counter reading of the roller counter
and the transmitted counter reading.

4. Configuration
The parameterisation on site is only necessary for
subsequent installation of the EDC module on a
water meter.
Settable parameters:
Current value on the register
■
The water meter number related to the EDC
■
module
Pulse value of the m odulator disc
■
Resetting of the status bits (tampering, error)
■
module.

■
ment of the water meter and further use of the
EDC module)

Commissioning / radio activation
EDC with wireless M-Bus interface:
With the EDC wM-Bus variant of the first generation
(identifiable by the serial number beginning with
„EZRI01...") the activation of the wireless M-Bus
radio signal performs automatically, as soon as the
function "pulse enabled" is activated and the EDC
module scans 30 pulses from the register.
With the EDC wM-Bus devices of the second genera-
tion (identifiable by the serial number beginning
with EZRI0A..." and firmware ≥ 1.78), the activation
is no longer automatic after x liters of flow, but can
be done as follows:
- by means of illuminating the infrared interface > 8
seconds (illuminant should not be an LED);
- by means of the ZENNER infrared optical head
IrCombiHead, the universal interface MinoConnect
(USB or Bluetooth) and the MSS configuration
software or the ZENNER Device Manager Basic app.
When using the MSS software and opto head, please
click on the clickbox "SetOperationMode" in the
software interface to activate the EDC module V2
(from fw. 1.78). After activation, the red LED flashes
on EDC modules beginning with firmware 1.78 for
a duration of one minute. The current status on the
roller register can be programmed using the optical
head via the front-mounted infrared interface of the
EDC.
EDC with LoRaWAN® interface:
The LoRaWAN® EDC module is also to be activated
and parameterized by means of an opto head and
the accessories described above in case of a retrofit.
As an alternative, the infrared interface can be illumi-
nated ( > 8 seconds).
For ex-works installed EDC module on a water meter
no further parameterization or radio activation
necessary, because the radio function starts auto-
matically after flow detection (flow rate depends on
meter type). Here, an additional activation by means
of illumination (at least 8 seconds) of the IR-diodes
is possible.
