8. Operation
8.1
General
The GSM-Interface is normally connected between an analogue telephone line, if
available, and a supplementary device (e.g. alarm system, telephone).
Because of its interface function, it is possible to simulate an analogue telephone
line over the GSM network. The device therefore constantly checks the availability
of the analogue telephone connection (PSTN) and the GSM network.
Normally, all messages are transmitted on the primary transmission line (default:
PSTN). If there is a fault in the primary line, messages are transmitted on the
secondary line.
Following every message transmission, the device checks the primary line again.
If the primary transmission line cannot be restored, transmission continues on the
secondary line.
The GSM-Interface has three operating options:
-
GSM Backup: Outgoing messages are transmitted primarily on the
analogue telephone line. If this is not possible, the device switches
automatically to the GSM network.
-
GSM Only: Outgoing messages are transmitted over the GSM network
only. This mode is used if no analogue telephone line is available.
-
GSM Main: Outgoing messages are transmitted primarily over the GSM
network. If this is not possible, the device switches automatically to the
analogue telephone line.

Inputs
The GSM-Interface has 4 inputs that you can wire as NC (Normal Closed) or NO
(Normal Open). With the jumper J15, you can select the triggering polarity
(positive/negative).
Each triggering of an input and the reset can be transmitted to each of up to 8
telephone numbers by voice message or text message (SMS).
Each input can be defined as 24h-type (permanently active) or as set/unset
(controlled by SMS commands). This means that, similarly to an alarm system, you
can define when the GSM-Interface reacts to alarms.
Inputs 3 and 4 have additional special functions:
Input 3 can be defined as "PSTN to GSM" type. Here too, the user can send an
SMS command to switch the transmission route from PSTN to GSM.
Input 4 has a so-called abort function, which stops all active dialling actions.
IMPORTANT:
Note that during programming with the GSM software supplied, there can be no
triggering of inputs!
