NOTE: When replacing this valve cover,
check the intake manifold for a missing
non-return valve. Failure of the intake
manifold can cause valve cover PCV
failure. The OE intake manifold can be
replaced with Dorman OE FIX
part #615-380KIT (intake manifold, valve
cover and PCV tube assembly), or part
#615-380 (just the intake manifold). The
Dorman OE FIX
intake manifold features
TM
a retainer insert that prevents the non-
return valve from dislodging.
NOTE: Inspect the O-ring on the OE oil
cap before using with this new valve cover.
Worn or damaged O-rings can cause oil
leaks from the cap, and the oil cap O-ring
or the oil cap should be replaced. A new
O-ring is included with this valve cover.
Inspect all components of the intake
system, including air filter, for wear and
blockage and replace as needed. Worn
or blocked parts could cause premature
valve cover failure.
CHECKING FOR
INTAKE MANIFOLD
FAILURE
Check for a missing intake manifold non-return
valve that may have damaged the PCV orifice
diaphragm.
Use a long cotton swab to wipe any excess oil
from the PCV valve, and inspect the interior of the
valve with a flashlight or borescope. If the non-
return valve is not visible as shown in illustration,
then remove the intake manifold for inspection.
