Avoiding Damage to Material, Property and the Device

Maintain a suffi cient distance from heat sources such as hobs or ovens in order not
to damage the device. Do not place any naked fl ames, e.g. burning candles, in the
immediate vicinity of the device, mains cable or mains plug.
Lay the mains cable in such a way that it does not become squashed or bent and
does not come into contact with hot surfaces (this also applies to the hot surfaces of
the device!).
Always set up the device with enough clearance on all sides and above and on a dry,
even, stable and heat-resistant surface.
Do not place it below kitchen wall units or similar cupboards. The rising steam could
cause damage to it.
Only use the device if all components have been inserted correctly and the water tank
is fi lled correctly! The amount of water must be between the bottom and top marking
of the water level indicator.
Do not pour milk or other liquids into the water tank. Only ever use drinking water!
Do not drop the device or subject it to heavy impacts.
Do not pull or carry the device by the mains cable.
Use only the accessories supplied with the product or recommended by the manu-
facturer.
Only use the coffee jug which is also supplied with this device. Do not use it on a
stove or in the microwave.
Never place the hot coffee jug made of glass on a wet or cold surface. Never pour in
cold water. The glass might shatter.
Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, wide temperature variations,
moisture, wet conditions or direct sunlight.
Do not use any corrosive or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the device. These can
damage the surface.
Notes on Hygiene
There may still be some production residues on the device and the accessories.
To avoid harmful effects to your health, clean the device and all accessories before
using them for the fi rst time. Note the cleaning instructions in the "Cleaning and Des-
caling" chapter.
Keep the device clean!
