Felling
Felling consists of 2 main cutting operations: making 2
notching cuts and making one felling cut.
For felling cuts and cross cuts, spike bar must adhere to
the cut wood safely.
The felling cut (19/C) must be done in the desired fall
direction (19/E) as close to the ground as possible.
1.
First cut the felling notch (19/C) obliquely from the
above, then horizontally.
2.
Cut the felling cut (19/D) horizontally in the opposite
to the felling notch. The cut must be done ca 3-5 cm
higher than the horizontal notch.
There must be a joint bar (19/F) between the
notch and the cut, whose width is ca 1/10 of the
tree trunk diameter.
If the tree starts falling during the cut, immediately re-
move the chain saw from the cut and leave via the safety
way out of danger. Beware of falling brunches.
If the tree stays standing, fell it using wedges which are
driven to the felling cut. Beware of falling brunches.
6.3
Limbing
When limbing, lean the chain saw against the tree trunk.
Never cut with the nose of the guide bar. Danger
of kickback!
Beware of brunches under tension.
Do not cut the freely hanging brunches underneath.
Never cut tree limbs while standing on tree trunk.
Sticking, lengthwise and heart cuts should be carried out
by skilled users of the chain saw only.
