c) If necessary, use a handsaw or second chain saw to release the trapped
saw by cutting a minimum of 30 cm away from the trapped saw.
Whether a handsaw or a chain-saw is used to free a trapped saw, the
release cuts should always be outboard (toward the tips of the branch), in
order to prevent the saw being taken with the section and further
complicating the situation.
Using a mechanical basket (where possible) is still the safest solution to
ensure the optimal operation of the chain saw (see fig.38).
Additional instructions for the use of land to chainsaw
The operation of tree felling requires professionally trained and qualified
personnel.
Reading of these instructions is always necessary, but is not a substitute for
adequate experience in performing this delicate operation.
Before felling. Ensure that:
1) There are no other people or animals within the range of the fallen tree.
2) Select the direction in which the tree is to fall in such a way that you can
move away in the opposite direction .
3) Check that the escape route is free of obstacles.
4) Select the direction of fall taking account of the following variables.
-
Branches weighted towards one side.
-
Slant of the tree.
-
Direction of the wind (do not fell when the wind is strong)
-
Damaged wood
5) Carefully
observe
" GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS ".
6) Free the base of the trunk, cutting branches and big roots.

Trunk resting on its ends:
1) Make a cut from above to 1/3 of the diameter (fig.39).
