9 - MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES
9.1 Discharging tank condensate
Before carrying out repair or maintenance work, release the pressure from the com-
pressor. Cut off the power and isolate the compressor from the electrical mains.
Corrosion must be prevented: according to the conditions of use, condensate can build up inside the tank
and has to be discharged on a daily basis. This operation can be carried out manually by opening the
breather valve (Fig. 5).
Check of the tank as part of the annual maintenance by a competent body or a client service ex-
pert. The check date has to be recorded on the vessel. If applicable observe the local standards.
Internal corrosion can reduce the thickness of the steel wall with consequent risk of explosion.
Use of the air tank is not allowed when the wall's thickness reaches the minimum value specified
in the tank's certification (part of the documentation provided with the unit).
The air tank's service life mainly depends on the work environment.
Avoid installing the compressor in a dirty and corrosive environment since this would signifi-
cantly reduce the tank's service life.
Do not anchor the tank or the relative components directly to the ground or to rigid structures.
Mount the pressure tank fitted with anti-vibration pads to prevent faults from excessive stress
caused by the tank's vibrations during use.
In using the tank, observe the temperature and pressure limits defined on the data plate and on
the testing report.
Never modify this tank in any way by welding, drilling or other mechanical machining methods.
