Washout & Swashplate
The washout is a very important part. All cyclic and pitch inputs are mixed by that part.
This is why that part must be built with care and frequently checked. A small natural
slope can be identified and shall remain. This allows the washout to operate smoothly
especially in winter when cold «retracts» metal, and more important, it allows to support
without damage the small linkages lenghts differences that always exists even with a
very careful building

Make sure that you have checked that the ball bearings are correctly glued in the levers
(CA for palstic levers and bearing / metal sealant for metal levers). Make sure you do
not have any Ca / sealant spreading into the bearings when applying !
To apply Ca / Sealant on the levers and bearings, degrease and cleanup the lever, dry it,
and apply Ca / sealant with a small tip on the bearing location face that will be in contact

with the bearings external cage. Press then the bearings in the lever and clean up
immediatly the area to remove any excess of product.
It is also necessary to secure the radius arms lock pins. For this, apply a drop of CA on
each extremity of the pin once it is installed. The Ca will glue the lock pin on the radius
arm and will allow free movement of the lever. Make sure no Ca excess spreads around
that area, if Ca comes to contact between the Radius arms and the levers, then they will
be locked and damaged !
Finally, make sure that you secure the screws retaining the mixer arms on the washout
slider base with thread lock, and clean up the area as soon as it is done. Drop a small
quantity of oil on the main shaft and perform sliding tests of the washout. If you feel a
« hard point», do not hesitate to use 1000 grade metal grind paper to polish and

smoothen the mast surface until the washout slides perfectly on it.
This is not a problem of precision when milling the shafts but simply small rust spots
appearing sompetimes on the main shaft. Just make sure that you lube the main shaft
frequently for a perfect and smooth movement of the washout slider and the swashplate.

lock on the washout anti-rotation bracket thread before installing it.
