9.1. Replacing the nozzle set

Damage due to incorrect assembly
The paint nozzle and paint needle can become damaged if they are
assembled in the wrong order.
→ It is essential that you adhere to the correct order of assembly. Never
screw in the paint nozzle against a paint needle that is engaged.
The nozzle set consists of a tested combination of air nozzle [7-1], paint
nozzle[7-2] and paint needle [7-3]. Always replace the complete nozzle
set.
Disassemble nozzle set
■ Loosen counter nut [1-4].
■ Unscrew adjustment screw [1-3] with counter nut and remove from gun
body.
■ Remove spring and paint needle [7-3].
■ Unscrew and remove air nozzle [7-1].
■ Use universal wrench to unscrew paint nozzle [7-2] and remove from
gun body.
Nozzle set assembly
■ Use the universal wrench to screw paint nozzle [7-5] into gun body and
tighten with a tightening torque of 14 Nm.
■ Screw air nozzle [7-4] onto gun body.
■ Insert paint needle and spring [7-6].
■ Screw adjustment screw [1-3] with counter nut [1-4] into gun body.
After assembly, set the material flow rate as instructed in Chapter 8.2.
9.2. Replacing the air distribution ring
Information!
After removing the air distribution ring, check the seal contact surface in
the paint spray gun. If damaged, contact the SATA Service Department
(see Chap. 16 for address).
Remove air distribution ring
■ Nozzle set removal (see 9.1).
■ Pull out air distribution ring using SATA extraction tool [8-1].
■ Check seal contact surface [8-2] for contaminants and clean if neces-
sary.
