Line spool
Warning! Ensure the switch is in the off position and disconnect the cable
plug from the mains supply.
Caution! Take care against injury by the blade fitted to control the trimmer line
length.
1. Reverse the line trimmer and hold the trimmer head up facing you with the handle
down.
2. Press the lock buttons on the side of the spool holder and pull the spool holder out
from the trimmer.
3. Check the condition of the line. If there is sufficient line to continue, make sure it
is not tangled but stored correctly in two channels, both wound counterclockwise.
If you are replacing the line spool with a new one, these instructions also
apply from this point on:
4. On both free ends of cutting line (fig. 11, R) leave about 2" (50 mm) unwound.
5. Feed these ends through the two grommets (fig.11, Q) in th outer of the line
spool holder.
6. Be sure the inner spring is seated inside the line feed bump button (fig.11, N).
7. To insert the spool holder into the trimmer, push the spool holder in until the
lock buttons click.
8. Push in the line feed button with your hand and simultaneously, pull the line
further out of the grommets in the spool holder. Do this until both lines are at
least long enough to reach the outer edge of the guard.
9. Return the tool to its upright position.
Caution! After changing the line spool, run the trimmer under no load for
at least a minute to make sure that the line and the tool are both operating
correctly.
MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the tool's air vents unclogged and clean at all times.
2. Remove dust and dirt regularly.
3. Re-lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals.
4. Caution! Do not use cleaning agents to clean the plastic parts of the tool. A mild
detergent on a damp (not wet) cloth is recommended. Water must never come into
contact with the tool's interior. Do not use this trimmer in wet or rainy conditions.
5. Never disassemble the tool or carry out repairs that involve opening the housing.
Always have the trimmer maintained or repaired by a competent person at an
authorized service centre.
6. Except during the 40 hour check, there are no parts that require lubrication
under normal use.
7. When the trimmer requires new carbon brushes, or after about 40 hours of
use, take it to an authorized service centre for the following:
Carbon brush replacement.
Lubrication.
Mechanical drive check including spindle bearing and enclosure.
Electrical circuitry checks, including switch, wiring, and motor.
