Disconnect the plug from the socket and/
or remove the battery before you make ad-
justments to the machine, change access-
ories or put the machine away. This pre-
cautionary measure will prevent the machine
from starting inadvertently.
Keep unused electrical tools out of the
reach of children. Do not allow people to
use the machine if they are not familiar
with it, or have not read these instruc-
tions. Electrical tools are dangerous if they
are used by inexperienced people.
Look after electrical tools with care.
Check whether moving parts function per-
fectly and do not stick, whether there are
any broken parts or parts that are dama-
ged in such a way that the function of
the electrical tool is impaired. Have dama-
ged parts repaired before you use the ma-
chine. Many accidents are caused by failure
to maintain electrical tools properly.
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Care-
fully maintained cutting tools with sharper cut-
ting edges are less likely to stick and are ea-
sier to control.
Use electrical tools, accessories, inser-
tion tools, etc. according to these instruc-
tions. When doing so, take account of the
working conditions and the activity to be
undertaken. Using electrical tools for appli-
cations other than the intended purpose can
result in dangerous situations.
Use and handling of the battery-operated tool
Only recharge batteries in chargers that
are recommended by the manufacturer.
Using a charger intended for one particular
type of battery with a different type of battery
represents a fire risk.
Only use batteries in the electrical tools
that are intended for this purpose. Using
other batteries can lead to injuries and re-
presents the risk of fire.
Keep the unused battery away from paper
clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other
small metal objects that could short-cir-
cuit the contacts. A short circuit between the
battery contacts can result in burns or fire.

Incorrect use can result in fluid leaking
out of the battery. Avoid contact with the
fluid. In case of inadvertent contact, rinse
off with water. If the fluid gets into your
eye, seek additional medical assistance.
Leaking battery fluid can lead to skin irritati-
ons or burns.
Service
For your own safety, only have your
electrical tool repaired by qualified spe-
cialist personnel using genuine spare
parts. This ensures that the electrical tool re-
mains safe.
Safety instructions for hedge trimmers
Keep all body parts away from the cut-
ting blade. Do not attempt to remove cut
material or hold onto material to be cut
when the blade is operating. Switch off the
machine before you remove trapped cut
material. A moment's inattentiveness when
using the hedge trimmer can result in serious
injuries.
Carry the hedge trimmer using the handle,
and make sure the blade is switched
off. Always put on the blade guard when
transporting or storing the hedge trimmer.
Careful handling of the machine reduces the
risk of injury from the blade.
Hold the electrical tool using the insula-
ted handle surfaces, because the cutting
blade could come into contact with con-
cealed electrical cables. Contact between
the cutting blade and a live cable can result in
electrical current flowing through metal parts
of the machine, leading to an electric shock.
Safety notes for battery and charger
