3. Tighten the vehicle seat belt.
Press down firmly in the center
of the car seat. To tighten, pull
on the loose end of the vehicle
lap belt to tighten it.
4. Test for tightness.
Grab the side of the seat where
the vehicle seat belt is and
slide the car seat side-to-side
and front-to-back. If the seat
moves less than 1 in. (2.5 cm),
it is tight enough. Do not test
by grasping the top or back of
the seat.
