PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEP-BY-STEP
INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE USING
THE AUTOPEN.
IMPORTANT SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Failure to follow these instructions may result
in an inaccurate dose.
• Always check before each injection that the
Autopen contains the correct insulin type to
be injected.
• Always expel any air, with the needle
pointing upwards, before each injection.
• The needle should be removed and safely
disposed of immediately after each injection.
If the needle is not removed, temperature
changes may result in some liquid being
expelled from the cartridge which might
cause a change in the insulin concentration.
• Your healthcare professional has prescribed
the type of insulin that he/she believes is
best for you. Do not use any other insulin
except on the advice and direction of your
healthcare professional.
• Read and follow the manufacturers
instructions provided with your insulin
cartridges.
• 3.0 ml cartridges from Novo Nordisk and
Aventis should not be used with any of the
Autopens shown in these User Instructions.
• Consult your healthcare professional should
you encounter abnormal blood glucose
levels.
