Maintenance and Servicing
When maintaining these units and having such situations where personnel could be hurt by moving parts or by live electrical parts
the pump must be isolated by totally disconnecting the electrical supply. It is imperative that the unit cannot be re-started during
the maintenance operation.
Do not maintain a pump that is at its normal operating temperature as there is a danger from hot parts or hot lubricant.

When the units are in continuous use the oil level in the oil pot (G) should be checked daily and the oil in the sight glasses (I
weekly. The oil pot may be topped up when the units are in operation. The oil level in the two end cases however can only be topped up when
the units are switched off and vented to atmospheric pressure.
The oil in these two chambers should be changed after 5000 operating hours under normal ambient conditions (see oil drain screws (K
The oil in the oil pot does not require complete changing only topping up. If however this consumption is excessive it will be necessary to change
the shaft sealing rings and the shaft wearing sleeve.
The viscosity must correspond to ISO-VG 100 according to DIN 51 519.
We recommend the following oil brands: Bechem VBL 100, BP Energol RC 100, Esso rotary oil 100, Mobil vacuum pump oil heavy, Shell Tellus
oil C 100 and Aral Motanol HK 100 or equivalent oils from other manufacturers (see oil type plate (M)).
If the oil brand is changed, the old oil must be drained completely from the oil chambers.
Old and used oil must be disposed of corresponding with the relevant health, safety and environmental laws.

3. Protection mesh (picture
The capacity of the pump can become reduced if the air
protection sieve is not maintained correctly.
The protective mesh (f) must be cleaned regularly depending upon
the amount of contamination. Cleaning can be carried out by
blowing out with compressed air.
For this the suction pipe to the Roots pump must be removed.
