1. Put the strap on; the strap must lead over your right
shoulder (Fig. 8a).
2. Hook the snap hook of the shoulder strap into the
bracket provided at the main tube (Fig. 8b).
3. Adjust the length of the strap such that the cutting
tool is positioned parallel to the ground, when the
strap is put over the shoulder. Determine the cor-
rect adjustment for the respectively installed cutting
tool by performing some test swings with the engine
switched off.
4. Never carry the belt diagonally across your shoulders
and chest, but rather only on one shoulder, so that
you can rapidly move away from the tool in case of
danger.
NOTE: Never start the engine with the shoulder strap
hang up.
Before each time you start the device check:
• The fuel system is not leaking.
• The safety equipment and protective equipment
• are complete and in good working order.
• All screwed connections are firmly seated.
• Ease of movement in all moving parts.

6.3 Fuel and oil

Recommended fuels
Use only a mix of lead-free petrol and special 2-stroke
engine oil. Mix the fuel mixture in accordance with the

fuel mixing table.

Attention: Do not use any fuel mixture that has been
stored for more than 90 days.
Attention: Do not use any 2-stroke oil that recommends
a mix ratio of 100:1. The manufacturer's guarantee is
void in the case of engine damage caused by insufficient
lubrication.
Attention: Only containers that are intended for and ap-
proved for transporting and storing fuel should be used for
these purposes. Always put the correct quantities of petrol
and 2-stroke oil in the mixing bottle provided (see scale
printed on the side). Then shake the container well.

7. Operation
Please observe the legal regulations for noise protection
- these can vary from region to region.
7.1 Starting with a cold motor
Fill the tank with a reasonable quantity of
petrol/oil mix. See also fuel and oil.
1. Set the device down on a hard, level surface.
2. Set choke lever (fig. 1/ item 5) to „ " .
3. Press fuel pump primer (fig. 1/ item 7) 10x.
4. Switch on/off switch (fig. 1/ item 9) to „I".
5. Lock throttle trigger. To do so actuate the throttle trig-
ger lock (fig. 1/ item 12) and then the throttle trigger
(fig. 1/item 11) and lock the throttle trigger by simulta-
neously pressing the locking mechanism (fig. 1 / item
10).
2-stroke oil
25 ml
125 ml
6. Hold the device firmly in place and pull the starter
cord (fig. 1 / item 4) as far as the first point of re-
sistance. Now pull the starter cord quickly 4x. The
device should start.
Attention: Do not let the starter cord fly back. This can
lead to damage.
7. If the motor has started immediately set the choke
lever to „ " and let the device warm up for approx. 3
secs.
Attention: The cutting tool starts to work as soon as
the motor starts if the throttle trigger is locked.
Then unlock the throttle trigger by simply actuating
(the motor drops back to idle).
8. If the motor does not start then repeat steps 6-7.
Note: If the motor does not start after several attempts
then read the section „Troubleshooting on the motor".
Note: Always pull the starter cord straight out. If it is pul-
led at an angle then this causes friction at the eye. This
friction frays the cord and it wears out faster. Always hold
on to the starter handle when the cord is winding back
in. Never let the cord spring back from its extended con-
dition.
7.2 Starting with a warm motor
(The device has been switched off for less than 15-20 mins)
1. Set the device down on a hard, level surface.
2. Set on/off switch to „I".
3. Lock throttle trigger (as per „Starting with a cold motor").
4. Hold the device firmly in place and pull the starter
cord as far as the first point of resistance. Now pull
the starter cord quickly. The device should start after
1-2 pulls. If the machine has still not started after 6
pulls then repeat steps 1-7 from the section on star-
ting a cold motor.
7.3 Switching the motor off
Emergency stop procedure:
If it should be necessary to stop the machine immediately
then move the on/off switch to „Stop" or „0"
Normal procedure:
Release the throttle trigger and wait until the motor has
run down to idle speed. The set the on/off switch to „Stop"
or „0".
7.4 Operating instructions
Practice all working techniques with the motor switched
off before using the device.
Lengthening the cutting line
Warning! Do not use any type of metal wire or plastic
sheathed metal wire in the cutting line spool. This can
lead to serious injuries to the operator.
To lengthen the cutting line, let the motor run at full
throttle and tap the cutting line spool on the ground. The
cutting line will be automatically lengthened. The blade
on the protective cover will trim the cutting line to the per-
mitted length (fig. 9b).
Caution: Remove all grass and weed residue regularly
in order to avoid the shaft tube overheating. Lawn/grass/
weed residue can become entangled underneath the
protective cover (fig. 9c) and this inhibits the cooling of
the shaft tube. Remove the residue carefully with a scre-
wdriver or similar.
