Wireless PIR sensor 44-063
Description
The wireless PIR sensor 44-063 is a wireless
transmitter that combines infrared and wireless
technology.
The PIR sensor 44-063 can detect people up to 8 m
away. The sensor is ideal for installation by doorways
and gateways, on ceilings and walls or placed on a table.
When the receiver receives a signal from the PIR
44-063 transmitter, the receiver will give a signal that
welcomes customers or guests.
- Easy to install by doors, passageways,
ceilings, walls or placed on a table / shelf.
- Adjust the distance by turning the
potentiometer marked METRE to the left or
right.
- Wireless
- Can be used in various locations: offi ces,
small shops, in the home etc.
- Splash proof for outdoor fi tting.
Channel setting
The transmitter and receiver communicate with each
other by using the same channel. The PIR sensor
transmitter is factory set to system channel "1" and
product channel "9". You should ensure that both
channels are the same on transmitter and receiver.
The user can set the receiver to the same channel as
the transmitter. If the user requires a different channel
setting, because other systems are set to the same
channel, the user must change the channels on both
transmitter and receiver.
Do not use system channel "A" and product channel
position "1" on sensor 44-063. This combination can
produce interference from other systems on the market.
Use the following procedure if you want a different
channel setting for PIR sensor 44-063.
1. Remove the battery cover with a fl at

screwdriver. Fig. 1

2. Adjust the channel selection with a
screwdriver. Fig. 2
3. Position batteries with the correct polarity.
4. Replace the battery cover. The cover is the right

way round when the screwdriver symbol is

located opposite the screwdriver recess. Fig. 1

Installation
Tips for longer range.
1. Install the 44-063 on the ceiling, approx. 2.5 to
5 metres above the fl oor.
2. Before installation, check that the transmitter
and receiver are not too far apart, thus
preventing reception of the signal.
3. Avoid fi tting the PIR transmitter 44-063 close to
aluminium cladding or thick metal, which
reduces transmission distance. Keep it at least
1 metre away.
4. Avoid fi tting the PIR sensor on very thick walls
containing iron, which reduces the distance to
the receiver.
5. When checking the range, avoid holding the
PIR sensor 44-063 in your hand, as the body
can act as an aerial and produce interference.
6. To prevent signal reduction, there should not be
several transmitters within a radius of 3 metres.
7. If fi tted outdoors, avoid turning the sensor head
upwards as the sensor can be damaged by
water. Fig. 3

Choosing the correct location
Detection area
1. The size of the detection area depends on the
height of the sensor above the fl oor. Fig. 4
2. Choose a location in which the transmitter and
receiver work satisfactorily.
3. The PIR sensor 44-063 can be fi tted above a
door. Fig. 5
4. On the ceiling. Fig. 6
5. At the side of a doorway. Optimal height is
1,2 metres. Fig. 7
6. On a table. Fig. 8

Avoid erroneous signals
The PIR transmitter 44-063 is activated by temperature
changes that are in movement. The following points
can remedy unwanted transmitter signals.
1. Avoid the object moving towards the sensor, as
this produces the lowest sensitivity.
2. Position the sensor so that the person crosses
the segments, which gives the greatest sensitivity.
3. Do not position the sensor so that it "looks"
towards a light source.
4. Avoid directing the sensor towards bushes that
move in the wind.
5. Do not position the sensor close to heat sources,
such as ventilation heat, air conditioning, dryers
or lamps.
6. Avoid refl ective surfaces which can create rapid
changes in temperature.
Receiving and transmission distance
Range outdoor: ............approx. 50 m in open space*.
Range indoor: ...............approx. 25 m in open space*.
Approximately 5-10 m when mounted on a conductive
surface (e.g. metal/aluminium). To increase the range
the Wireless Signal Extender 23-085 can be used. The
Wireless Signal Extender 23-085 can double the range
and are mounted in a straight line.
*when using the adapter or batteries (4 x AA 1,5V
alkaline).
