Congratulations on purchasing the Samson Synth Series 6 UHF Wireless System! Although this product
is designed for easy operation, we suggest you first take some time to go through these pages so you
can fully understand how we've implemented a number of unique features.
Every wireless system consists of at least two components—a transmitter and a receiver, both of which
must be tuned to the same channel (that is, the same radio frequency) in order to operate correctly.
The Samson Synth Series 6 system you have purchased is "frequency-agile" (that is, it can operate over
a number of different frequencies, allowing you to select the best frequencies for your particular
environment) and contains a UR6D dual receiver and either our UT6 belt-pack transmitter (for lavalier
microphone, headset microphone, and instrument applications) or our UH6 hand-held microphone
transmitter. The Synth Series 6 system operates in either the 794.125 - 805.875 MHz frequency range or
in the 782.125 - 794.000 MHz frequency range (the model which uses these "X" frequencies contains a
UR6DX dual receiver and either a UT6X belt-pack or UH6X hand-held microphone transmitter).
Designed for professional theatre and sound contracting applications—and particularly well-suited for
"RF-hostile" environments and travelling installations—the Samson Synth Series 6 Wireless System is
both expandable and upgradable, utilizing state-of-the-art technology in wireless communications.
Main features include:
• Up to 22 channels available for simultaneous use in normal power mode, or up to 96 channels
available for simultaneous use in a special low-power mode.
• True Diversity technology maximizes active range and reduces potential interference problems
through automatic switching between two independent receiver antennas.
• The UR6D dual receiver can receive dual mono signals and provides both balanced and
unbalanced outputs, output level switch (-20 dBm / -60 dBm) and continuously adjustable AF level
controls for each channel. An output mixing switch combines the received signals from both inputs.
• Large back-lit LCD display (with contrast control) in the UR6D provides both AF and RF level
meters, as well as showing the current channel, as well as antenna and mute status.
• Each receiver can be given an 8-character title, and all front-panel controls can be security-locked.
• Automatic current and voltage sensing circuitry in the UR6D allows world-wide use with any AC
power source from 100 - 240 volts.
• Transmitters provide selectable RF output strength (10 mW or 1 mW), "popless" muting (which
turns off the audio signal while leaving the carrier signal on) and use two standard AA batteries, with
battery life of more than 10 hours.
• dbx® noise reduction* for crystal-clear sound with minimized background noise and hiss.
• Optional computer control via the Samson Wireless System Manager™, allowing frequency
auto-scanning and channel plan importation.
Your Synth Series 6 System may also optionally include AN-81A or AN-82 powered antennas (covered in
a separate owners manual) and/or a DA6 UHF Antenna Distribution Amplifier (see pages 12 - 13).
In this manual, you'll find a more detailed description of the features of the Synth Series 6 system, as
well as a guided tour through all components, step-by-step instructions for setting up your system, wiring
diagrams and tables, and full specifications. If your Synth Series 6 system was purchased in the United
States, you'll also find a warranty card enclosed—don't forget to fill it out and mail it! This will enable you
to receive online technical support and will allow us to send you updated information about this and other
Samson products in the future. If your Synth Series 6 system was purchased outside of the U. S.,
contact your local distributor for warranty details.
SPECIAL NOTE for U.S. purchasers: Should your Synth Series 6 system ever require servicing, a
Return Authorization number (RA) is necessary. Without this number, the unit will not be accepted.
Please call Samson at 1-800-372-6766 for a Return Authorization number prior to shipping your unit.
If possible, return the unit in its original carton and packing materials. If your Synth Series 6 system was
purchased outside of the U. S., contact your local distributor for servicing information.
