Eliminating minor faults yourself

Before you call customer service:
Please check whether you can eliminate the fault yourself based on the following information.
Run an appliance self-test (see chapter "Appliance self-test").
Customer service will charge you for advice – even if the appliance is still under warranty!
Fault
Temperature differs greatly
from the set value.
Displays do not illuminate.
Display indicates "E..".
A warning signal sounds,
and the temperature display
on the freezer compart-
ment flashes.
The freezer compartment is
too warm! Frozen food is at
risk!
The lighting does not work. The light is defective.
There is no cooling output
from the appliance.
The lighting does not work.
The display does not light
up.
The refrigeration unit
is switching on more fre-
quently and for longer.

Possible cause
Power cut;
the fuse has tripped; the mains plug
has not been inserted properly.
Electronics have detected a fault.
Freezer compartment door is open.
Ventilation openings have been cov-
ered.
Too much food was placed in the
freezer at once.
Power failure
The fuse is switched off.
The power cord has not been
inserted properly.
Appliance opened frequently.
The ventilation openings have been
covered.
Large quantities of fresh food are
being frozen.
Remedial action
In certain cases it may be enough to switch off
the appliance for 5 minutes.
If the temperature is too high, wait a few hours
and check whether the temperature has
approached the set value.
If the temperature is too low, check the tempera-
ture again the next day.
Connect the mains plug. Check whether the
power is on, and check the fuses.
Call customer service.
To switch off the warning signal, press Alarm/
lock button. The display stops flashing.
The warmest temperature reached in the freezer
compartment is indicated on the temperature
display for 10 seconds.
Close the door.
Remove obstructions.
Do not exceed max. freezing capacity.
Note:
Frozen food which has started thawing or which
has thawed can be refrozen if meat and fish were
above 37 °F (+3 °C) for not more than one day
or other frozen food for not more than three days.

Check whether the power is on.
Check fuse.
Check whether the power cord is secure.
Do not open the appliance unnecessarily.
Remove obstacles.
Do not exceed max. freezing capacity.
