Switching on

GETTING STARTED
Switching on
Connect the instrument to the AC supply using the mains lead provided.
Press the power button for 1-2 seconds to turn on; at power up the generator displays a start-up
message whilst initialising the application.
Loading takes a few seconds, after which the home screen is displayed.
To turn off, briefly press the standby button.
WARNING
To fully disconnect from the AC supply, unplug the mains cord from the back of the instrument or
switch off at the AC supply outlet; make sure that the means of disconnection is readily accessible.
Disconnect from the AC supply when not in use

Initial Conditions

Before setting up the instrument for any of the examples, it should be returned to default
conditions. To do this follow these steps:
Touch the key labelled Set Factory Defaults
Press the hard key marked [Utility]
Touch the option labelled Inst (instrument). The instrument will immediately restart with
default settings.
This asserts the primary settings of:
Frequency = 1.5GHz.
Amplitude = -10dBm.
Modulation = disabled but with AM selected.
Sweep = disabled but set to a simple step sweep.

NOTE
power-on. It can be set to always power-on with default settings from [Utility] > System > Power-
The instrument by default will remember its latest settings at power-off and restore them at
on State > Default Params. This setting will be lost when the system is set back to factory defaults.
