2.2 Electrical connection (for 12V battery only!)
Note: The Black Edition series has completely black connection
cables. However, the cable end that connects to the positive
terminal is marked red!
Before connecting to the battery, please make sure that the
rotary handle (tiller) is in zero position.
Connect the battery cable (A, red marking) to the positive
terminal (+) of the battery. Connect the other battery cable
(B) to the negative terminal (-). The terminals must be rmly
connected. Otherwise, malfunctions may occur. The battery
should always be placed in a well ventilated place. The motor
works with all conventional 12V batteries. Zebco recommends
the use of special marine deep discharge batteries or LiFePO4
batteries to ensure the best possible operation. When operating
the motor on the on-board electronics of a combustion engine
with charging electronics, the motor should be connected
separately from the alternator.

2.3 Information display

The display is located on the top
of the motor head. The battery
charge status can be displayed
A
at the touch of a button. A
maximum of ve LED battery
symbols appear when the
battery is fully charged ( g. 3).
The individual stages of the ve
forward and two reverse gears
are also indicated by LED lights
B
on the display.
2.4 Operation
A=Forward
B=Battery Check
The speed control ( ve forward
C=Backward
and two reverse gears) is
integrated in the extendable rotary handle ( g. 5). Turning the
handle clockwise activates the forward gears. The reverse gears
are activated by turning the handle counter-clockwise. When
the rotary handle is in the zero position, the motor automatically
comes to a standstill. To accelerate, select the gears individually
and shift up steadily.
PLEASE NOTE: Excessively fast shifting,
also between forward and reverse gears,
can damage the motor electronics!
The motor head can be adjusted vertically upwards and
downwards by a maximum of 30° in either direction. To do this,
loosen the locking screw on the side and move the head to
the desired position ( g. 6 & 7). There are a total of six snap-in
points. Then retighten the screw until it is hand-tight.
In addition, the motor head can be adjusted horizontally up to
180°. To do this, loosen the knurled nut at the bottom of the
motor head ( g. 8) and turn the head counter-clockwise to the
desired position ( g. 9). There are ve snap-in points for this
adjustment. Then re-tighten the knurled nut rmly.

2.5 Depth adjustment and steering tension

To adjust the immersion depth, hold the motor shaft rmly
with one hand, loosen the tension block screw (Fig 10 ) and
the depth adjustment clamp
screw ( g. 10
), and adjust
B
the motor to the desired
depth. Then re-tighten the
adjustment clamp screw
rmly. Tighten the tension
block screw as required.
Steering counter tension is
achieved by loosening or
tightening the tension block
6
screw ( g. 10
). This damp-

ens vibrations and maintains

your heading when the tiller
is released.

2.6 Changing/attaching the propeller

PLEASE NOTE: Always disconnect the battery
before changing the propeller!
7
Use the propeller spanner supplied to loosen and remove
the lock nut, holding the propeller with one hand ( g. 11) to
prevent it from turning. The locknut must not be loosened
with hammer blows or by similar means, as this could result
in damage to the locknut or shaft. The propeller can be easily
removed after removing the locking screw.
Assembly is done in reverse order. When tting the new
propeller, make sure that the shear pin and groove match as
intended, otherwise the propeller cannot be attached properly.
After each use, check the propeller for any tangled lines or
aquatic plants and remove them if necessary.
