This section provides an overview of all important safety aspects required to keep the personnel safe at all times
and ensure the safe and trouble-free operation of the machine.
Failure to follow the operating instructions and safety information provided in this manual may lead to
considerable danger.
2.1

Intended use

The machine is designed and constructed only for the intended use described herein.
The knife sharpener is intended only for sharpening concave, curved knifes - as well as straight knifes when
combined with the optional "linear grinding unit" - which are used in agricultural presses and trailers with
loading facility.
Any other use is NOT considered appropriate. The manufacturer shall NOT be responsible for any damages
or accidents resulting from such inappropriate use!
The risk lies solely with the operator. Intended use also includes observing all operating, maintenance and
repair instructions specified by the manufacturer.
No claims for any damages arising from inappropriate use will be accepted.
2.2

Responsibilities of the operator

The machine is used in the commercial and the private sector. As a consequence, all commercial operators of
the machine are required to observe their statutory obligations with regard to occupational health and safety.
Apart from the safety information provided in these instructions, all safety, accident prevention and
environmental regulations applicable to the machine's area of application must be observed as well. The
following applies in particular:




The operator must train the personnel and inform them about all hazards involved on a regular basis.


Danger due to incorrect use!
Any use exceeding or deviating from the intended use of the machine may lead to
dangerous situations.
Therefore:
– Use the machine only as intended.
–
Strictly adhere to all specifications provided in these operating instructions.
Avoid the following types of use in particular:
– all grinding operations outside of the range of intended use
The operator must become familiar with all applicable occupational health and safety regulations and
conduct a risk assessment to determine the hazards resulting from the special work conditions present at
the machine's area of application. The results of such an assessment must be implemented into the
operating instructions of the machine.
The operator must verify throughout the entire time the machine is in use whether the operating instructions
he or she created comply with the latest revision of the corresponding regulations and revise them if
necessary.
The operator must clearly define and assign the responsibilities for installing, operating, maintaining and
cleaning the machine.
The operator must ensure that all employees handling the machine have read and understood these
instructions.
The operator must provide the personnel with all required protective equipment.
