Fig. 6-1 Apply electrical insulating compound
Using a cotton bud, apply a thin coating
Insulating Compound to the middle and lower layers of
the gaiter, as highlighted with the grid in figure above.
Ensure that the grease is smeared evenly all the way
around the highlighted areas and not placed in just one
spot.
2.
Fig. 6-2 Push the gaiter through the chassis
From the outer side of the upper case, push the gaiter A
through the chassis B, whilst rotating the gaiter within

1.
The amount of insulating compound that you use is not critical. Use just enough so that the surfaces, as indicated in the images, are lightly

Fig. 6-3 Push the joystick assembly through the chassis and gaiter
From the inner side of the upper case, push the joystick
sub-assembly A through the chassis B and gaiter C,
ensuring that the gaiter sits down fully and does not

on the spring retainer as shown D.
Fig. 6-4 Top of gaiter sits below the top shoulder of the spring
retainer
Ensure that the top of the gaiter sits below the top
shoulder of the spring retainer (6-4 Top of gaiter sits
below the top shoulder of the spring retainer, page 4 ,
right), not on top of it (6-4 Top of gaiter sits below the
top shoulder of the spring retainer, page 4 , left).
Fig. 6-5 Reconnect connector and close upper and lower case
Reconnect the interconnecting internal looms to
