twisting is prevented by a stop (ref.15, fi g.1) which prevents the comple-
te rotation of the mixing drum.
- Check periodically the condition of cables which come out
for electric panel.
7. MECHANICAL SAFETY
All dangerous areas on the IMER concrete mixer have protective casing
which must be kept installed at all times and maintained in perfect con-
dition, e.g. the drive belt guard (ref.8 fi g.1).
- The mixing drum tilting has a stopper (ref.15, fi g.1) to prevent
complete rotation and thus damage to the electrical motor connec-
tion cable. Never approach this area with parts of the body during
tilting.
- When tipping the bowl, never rotate the crank in such a way
as to force it beyond the stop device.
8. TRANSPORT
- The concrete mixer must not be towed on the road by a vehi-
cle, since its wheels are only suitable for transporting the mixer on
the building site, with the mixing drum empty.
When moving the machine manually, use the handle provided (ref.A,
fi g.7).
- Always disconnect the plug from the power supply before
moving the cement mixer.
9. ASSEMBLY
The cement mixer S 140 is delivered dismantled, packed in a box. Fol-
low the instructions provided below to assemble it:
1. Fit the rest foot and the axle unit with wheels on the frame. The latter
should be fi tted on the electric motor side (fi g.2).
2. Tighten the 5 nuts (ref.B, fi g.2) on the 5 screws (ref.A, fi g.2).
3. Position the concrete mixer on a fl at surface and insert the hand-
wheel (ref.A, fi g.3) on the shaft protruding from the lead screw coming
out of the reduction unit (ref.B, fi g.3).
4. Block using the blind locking ring (ref.C, fi g.3).
5. Insert the knob (ref.D, fi g.3) in the hole provided on the hand-wheel
(ref.A, fi g.3) and tighten it with the nut (ref.E, fi g.3).
- Turn the arm in both directions until touching the stop devi-
ce, to make sure assembly has been carried out correctly.
6. Turn the hand-wheel (ref.A, fi g.3) until the tilting reduction unit is po-
sitioned horizontally.
7. Install the drum (ref.A, fi g.4) on the reduction unit, centring the bu-
shing with the reduction unit taper shaft (ref.B, fi g.4).
- The slot formed in the bowl bushing must fi t onto the pin on
the reduction gear shaft.
8. Tighten completely using the special screw (ref.C, fi g.4).
9. Fit the two paddles (ref.A, fi g.5) in the drum (ref.B, fi g.5), using the
screws (ref.C, fi g.5) and nuts (ref.D, fi g.5); passing them through the
respective holes on the drum.
Once assembly has been completed, the concrete mixer is ready for
use.
10. INSTALLATION
- Install machine on fl at and solid ground (maximum admis-
sible gradient: 5°; see fi g.6) to prevent the mixer feet from sinking
into the ground or to prevent the mixer from overturning during
operation.
During mixer installation ensure easy access for barrows under the
mixer drum for loading.

11. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION
- Ensure that there is an overload cutout device fi tted up-line
on the power line.
Ensure that the mains voltage corresponds to that specifi ed for the ma-
chine: 230V/50Hz. The electrical power cable must be suitably sized
to avoid voltage drops. Cable drums must not be used. The size of the
power cable wires must be based on operating current and length of the
power line to prevent excessive voltage drops (tab.3).
Model
Syntesi 140 EL
Cables used on construction sites must be fi tted with suitable external
sheathing that is resistant to wear, crushing and extreme weather condi-
tions (for example H07RN-F).
- All power supply installations must comply with CEI 64-8
standards (harmonised document CENELEC HD384).
12. MACHINE START-UP
Before connecting the cement mixer to the power supply, check that
all the safety devices are in place and working properly, that the power
supply cable is in good condition and that the plugs and sockets (of
the waterproof type) are not wet. Check that the metal grilles protecting
the electric motor are not clogged, to prevent overheating of the motor
itself.
Connect the power supply cable to the electric panel plug. Start the
concrete mixer using the switch on the electric panel (ref.12, fi g.1). This
comprises two buttons: green for switching on, red for stopping. The
switch is provided with minimum voltage protection: in the event of a
power failure due to accidental causes, to start again, press the green
start button.
- The electric motor is protected against overloads by a tem-
perature sensor. In the event of overheating it stops automatically.
Let the motor cool down before starting it again.
13. EMERGENCY STOP
- In the case of an emergency, stop the machine pressing the
red stop button (protruding). Then disconnect the power plug. To
start again, re-connect the plug and press the start button.
14. USE
To obtain optimum mixing and regular operation, the concrete mixer
must be installed in the horizontal position. The user should adjust the
inclination of the mixing drum depending on the mix to be made.
- Insert materials while the drum is turning.
Drum tilt may be adjusted while materials are being loaded, in order to
keep the mix from dripping out of the drum.
Before beginning to load the materials inside the drum, it is best to pour
a certain quantity of water in fi rst.
When loading, insert the various materials to be mixed alternately, in the
amounts required for the type of mix to be obtained, so as to reduce the
mixing time to a minimum.
Keep the drum running until a smooth mix having the desired consisten-
cy is obtained.
Emptying must be carried out with the mixing drum working, moving
the drum mouth downwards by turning the hand-wheel provided (ref.11,
fi g.1).
If part of the batch is left in the drum for later use, it is necessary to leave
the drum turning. In any case, minimise the time the batch stays in the
drum after the required consistency has been reached.
- Do not introduce parts of body and/or tools inside the mixer
drum while it is running.
