Avoiding stroke movements:
due to fluctuations in the operating pressure
due to leakage on seals or tubing.
Clamping in movement sequences (braking) is not permitted. Dynamic braking
when there is a pressure failure is only permitted as an exceptional case. Other
wise, wear will increase leading to complete failure of the clamping unit. The dy
namic holding force must therefore always be less than the permitted static hold
ing force.
If there is a sudden pressure failure, the clamping unit may only be used after a
subsequent functional check (è Operation). Except in the event of sudden pres
sure failure, clamping may only be undertaken when the cylinder is in the inter
mediate or end positions of the cylinder, referred to here as the parking position.
The clamped piston rod resting in a park posi
tion may be pressurized only in chamber (Kh)
on the stroke side. This is to prevent the pis
ton from moving to an unpressurized chamber
when clamping is released.
3 Conditions of use
Note
If used in safety relevant applications, additional measures are necessary,
e.g. in Europe the standards listed under the EU machine guidelines must be
observed. Without additional measures in accordance with legally specified
minimum requirements, the product is not suitable as a safety relevant conpon
ent in control systems.
Note
The clamping cartridge may be damaged if the piston rod is braked.
S Make sure that with cyclic clamping the following specifications are ob
served:
The clampIng is loosened only in the pressurized intermediate or end posi−
tion of the cylinder.
The clamping cartridge is pressurized and exhausted only when the
clamping rod has come to a complete stand.
There are no dynamic forces.
