Visual inspection of exhalation valve: Remove the protective cap from
the mask connector, and carefully inspect the valve disc. The valve disc
and seat must be clean and undamaged. Clean or replace if necessary.
Leak test: Follow the Instructions for Use of the test equipment.
For the Testor. Moisten the face seal with water. Fit the mask to the
test head, see "Fitting the mask". Inflate test head until the sealing
surface fits snugly all round.
Seal the mask connector with the adapter. Generate a negative
pressure of 10 mbar. The mask is considered leak-proof if the pressure
change after 1 minute is no more than 1 mbar. If not:
Testing with sealed exhalation valve: Remove the exhalation valve,
and press the exhalation valve plug firmly onto the seat until it engages.
Generate a negative pressure of 10 mbar. If the pressure change after
1 minute is less than 1 mbar, remove the exhalation valve plug, insert a
new valve disc and repeat the leak test. If not:
Underwater leak test: Generate an excess pressure of approx.
10 mbar. Immerse test head with fitted breathing mask in water and
rotate slowly. Escaping air bubbles indicate the source of the leak(s).
Seal leak(s). Remove the exhalation valve plug. Repeat the leak test.
After testing: Unscrew the adapter. Remove mask from test head and
dry if necessary. Replace protective cap so that it clicks into place.
Maintenance
Replacing the visor: Undo the two clamping screws. Pry the clamping
frame apart with a screwdriver at the connecting points, then pull it off
to the top and bottom. Remove the support if necessary. Detach the old
visor from its rubber frame and insert a new visor, first in the upper half
and then in the lower half of the rubber frame.
Insert the visor first in the upper and then in the lower part of the rubber
frame. The center marks on the visor should be aligned with the seam
on the facepiece. Draw the rubber frame over the edge of the visor on
the right and left. Moisten the outside of the rubber frame and the inside
of the clamping frame with soap solution. Fit first the upper, then the
lower clamping frame. Fit the support if necessary. Screw the clamping
screws into the hexagonal nuts and tighten until the gap between the
clamp lobes is between 0.12 to 0.02 in.
Masks with a plastic frame do not have the nuts or clamp lobes. In this
case, simply insert and tighten the clamping screws.
Replacing the facepiece connector: Draw the
inner mask out of the groove in the screw ring.
Pry open the clip using a screwdriver. Remove
the clip, sliding ring and support. Draw the
facepiece connector out of the mask body.
Insert the speech diaphragm or for Panorama
Nova Standard the rubber ring and exhalation and inhalation valves into
the new mask connector, and fit the connector so that the center-marks
of the mask connector and mask body line up.
Slide the support between the clip and sliding
ring; attach it to the lower clamping frame and
align it. Compress the nose on the clip with
pliers R 53 239 until the facepiece connector is
securely located in the mask body. Fit the inner
mask.
Replacing the valve discs on the control valves: Pull out the old valve
disc towards the inside. Insert the stud of the new disc into the hole
from inside, and pull it towards the visor until the undercut of the stud is
visible. The valve discs should make even contact with the inside
surface.
Replacing the speech diaphragm or O-ring
Draw the inner mask out of the groove in the
screw ring. Unscrew the screw ring with
spanner R 26 817. Turn the socket wrench over
and carefully insert it in the holes of the grille,
taking care not to damage the foil on the
diaphragm.
Turn the speech diaphragm to release it and remove it. Remove the
O-ring from the connector with Sealing ring lifter 4054983. Check the
speech diaphragm and O-ring and replace if necessary. When
assembling the parts: press the edge of the inner mask into the groove
in the screw ring and ensure that it engages all around. The edge of the
inner mask must fit all around the full circumference of the screw ring.
The center marks on the facepiece connector and on the inner mask
must be lined up.
Replacing the rubber ring on Panorama Nova Standard: Draw the
inner mask out of the groove in the screw ring. Unscrew the screw ring
with spanner R 26 817. Remove the old rubber ring from the mask
connector. Moisten the new rubber ring with soapy water and insert.
Screw on the screw ring and tighten with spanner. When assembling
the parts: press the edge of the inner mask into the groove in the screw
ring and ensure that it engages all round. The edge of the inner mask
must fit round the full circumference of the screw ring. The center
marks on the facepiece connector and on the inner mask must be lined
up.

Replacing the exhalation valve disc: Remove the protective cap. Grip
under the edge of the valve disc and pull the holding stud out of the
hole. Clean the valve seat. Moisten the new valve disc with water and
press it into the hole until it engages. The valve disc must make even
contact all round. Refit the protective cap so that it engages.
Replacing the inhalation valve disc: Pull the inhalation valve out by its
tab. Remove the old valve disc and fit new disc. Press the inhalation
valve into the mask connector until it makes even contact all around.
The valve disc must not be pinched. The disc must face inwards, and
the stem outwards.
Only use original Dräger parts. Leakage tests must be repeated
after maintenance work and/or after replacing components.
Storage
Loosen the straps as far as possible. Wipe visor with anti-static cloth.
Pack mask in its bag or box and store it in a dry, dust-free place where
it is not deformed.
Storage temperature: –15 °C to +25 °C (5 °F to 77 °F) is
recommended. Keep out of direct sunlight and heat.
S. Special or Critical User's Instructions
Cartridges / Canister with end-of-service- life indicators
Respirators for use against Carbon Monoxide, Ethylene Oxide, Hydrogen
Sulfide, and Mercury Vapor are equipped with a passive end-of-service-life
indicator (ESLI). The passive ESLI must be readily visible when wearing
the respirator without manipulation or either the respirator or indicator. If
you can not readily see the indicator do not wear it. When the ESLI has
changed color from peach to gray, the cartridge or canister is to be
replaced. Once the ESLI has changed color, about 15 % of the service of
the cartridge / canister is still available.
