For cleaning, wipe housing with a damp cloth (add some sort of mild liquid soap)..
NOTE: To avoid damage to surface finish, avoid using chlorine bleach, chlorine-
based cleaners, abrasive substances, ammonia, rags or cleaning pads containing
metallic particles.
VAC control automatic and Switchbox run maintenance free. Repair work is limited to engineers
authorized to do so by HEIDOLPH. To this end get in touch with your local HEIDOLPH dealer or

Maintenance required

All Heidolph Vacuum Pumps require cleaning and maintenance to clean out chemical build up from
solvents not distilled. We recommend a weekly rinse, or more depending on use, with Acetone or
equivalent to break up and clean out solvent.
Disconnect all tubes and switch ON the pump. Slowly drip Acetone into the INLET nozzle of the
operating pump. The cleaning solvent will be distributed through the pump valves and along the
diaphragms, removing remains. Please ensure that your cleaning solvent exiting the pump is
collected in a vessel at the OUTLET nozzle.
ATTENTION:
Be careful not to use too large of a quantity of cleaning solvent in the pump, which
will cause damage to the pump
13.2.

Replace diaphragm and valve

All bearings are sealed hermetically and do not need any more lubrication. The pump itself is
maintenance-free. Valves and diaphragms are wear parts. As soon as pressure drops you should
clean and check housing, diaphragms and valves for cracks.
From case to case it make sense to clean and inspect pump heads in regular intervals. Normal
service life of diaphragms and valves is > 8000 hours.
Continuous feeding of fluids and dust will harm diaphragm and valves. Avoid condensation in
pump, as well as accumulation of dust.
Pumping corrosive gasses and vapors or in case of deposits in the pump, such maintenance work
should be done more frequently (by user's experience).
Regular maintenance will increase pump's service life and protect operator and environment.
Before connecting maintenance work, disconnect pump from system, and pull mains plug. Allow
pump to chill. Take adequate action to avoid pump running in disassembled condition.
Did you pump hazardous or corrosive gasses ?
Take precautions (protective garments and goggles), to avoid breathing and skin contact.
