NB: Make sure that the marks on the tightener match the manufacturer's values.
Otherwise, both the tightener and the chain tightening slide will have to be repla-

6. Remove the 'EXH' camshaft pulley, holding the camshaft from the hexag
onal section, while unscrewing the nut.
7. Adjust the position of the 'INT' camshaft pulley, through the hexagon, until
the pin of tool A456 can be easily fitted into the relevant hole.
8. Place the copper-coloured chain mesh on the pulley, at the mark matching
the 'INT' mark.
9. Place the silver-coloured chain mesh on the pulley, at the mark matching
the 'EXH' mark.
10. Adjust the position of the 'EXH' camshaft pulley, through the hexagon,
until the pin of tool A456 can be easily fitted onto the relevant hole.
11. Pull out the pins and tighten the release pulley holding the camshaft from
the hexagonal section.
12. Replace the chain tightener and preloading O-rings, pulling out the piston;
vertically lock the tightener upwards in a vice, and place the piston on the
first tooth, turning it clockwise.
13. Install the piston back into its seat and fit the tightener into the engine.
Important notice: Make sure that the tightener is working, pushing either the
tightening slide or the chain against it.
14. Let the shaft make a complete turn, until the TDC on n°. 4 cylinder is
reached.
15. Fit the pins of tool A456 into the relevant pulley holes. If these cannot be
positioned, the timing procedure will have to be carried out again.
16. Remove the tool and replace the upper chain slide.
