8.3 Ground connection

CAUTION! The external equipotential
connections must be set up through the
eyelet on the outside of the product. Do not
use as a protective terminal.
Fig. 24
The equipotential connection is mandatory
to avoid the risk of ignition of products
installed in potentially explosive
environments.
CAUTION! The functional earth of the
product must be connected to the earth
of the system to prevent accumulation of
electrostatic charges.
The unit must be connected with an equipotential
bonding to the earth with an external cable having
the following minimum section: 4mm² (11AWG).
22
Connect the earth equipotential bonding cable with
the provided eyelet. Suitable for cables:from 4mm²
up to 6mm².
Fasten the eyelet using the screw (M5) and the
toothed washer supplied.
Characteristics of the screw (M5)
• Material: A4 Class 70
• Screw head: ISO 4762
• Length: 8mm (0.3in)
The equipotential earth connection is necessary for
carrying out additional connections required by law.

8.4 Closing the housing

Test system operation for positive results
before closing the product and allowing the
presence of a dangerous atmosphere.
During product opening and closing
operations, be careful not to damage the
explosion proof joint.
Before closing the front cover, check the
O-ring gasket is intact. If the sealing is
damaged replace it with the one supplied.
Verify that there is no dirt or debris.
Arrange the cables so that they do not hinder closing
of the front cover. To avoid tearing of cables, there is a
hole under the slide for a fastening clip.
