instructions
TYPE: Retractable fall arrester including a rescue device with galvanized wire rope (from 15 to 30 meters
according to model). The fall arrester is delivered in a single use box to protect it from shocks and moisture.
INSTALLATION:
These instructions of use must be read and understood :
-
It is highly recommended to allocate this unit to one person to limit the adjusting modifications and to ensure
a better control of it.
The user must be trained and must use this device under the control of competent persons,
-
-
The anchor point must comply with EN 795
-
Fixing mode to the anchor point
Visually inspect, before and after each use, the serviceable condition of the fall arrester, the connectors,
-
lanyards, slings and hamesses (make sure there are no deformations, deterioration, damage to cable or
seams, corrosion, oxidation, shocks). If any doubt about the reliability of the unit, return it to the manufacturer.
-
Ensure the compatibility between the components of the fall arrest system.
-
Ensure that a safe rescue plan is in place.
Minimum and maximum working temperatures: - 30 ° C and + 50 ° C.
-
-
Do not expose the device to any aggressive conditions (acid, salt, water vapour or high level of moisture) and
take all necessary action to protect the equipment against these conditions.
-
Associativity with other components: in all cases, use only CE Standards and check the compatibility of the
complete system and the application of the recommended instructlons of use.
-
Ensure that the date for next inspection by manufacturer is not overdue.
-
Caution during use: Take all necessary actions relevant to the type of equipment so as to avoid any
mechanical or chemical damage.
The retrieval retractable fall arrester can operate in both directions: Either with cable exit up or with cable exit
-
down. It must be anchored to a reliable anchor polnt with minimum resistance of 10 kN (Neofeu tripod type
complying with EN 795 - See relevant Instructions of use). ln case of use of a pulley, make sure that the
pulley and the lanyard (Cable) are suitable with each other and comply to standard in force.
A - Anchor point of the retractable type fall arrester
1. Use the connector located at the top of the fall arrester to connect to the anchor point or a webbing sling
complying to EN795.
2. The anchor point must always be located directly overhead for a vertical use. The anchor point is allowed
to be located, as a maximum, at the same horizontal level as the back attachment point of the harness.
3. The anchor point of the fall arrester must be tested and must comply with EN 795.
4. Only connectors, lanyards and slings complying with standards EN 362, EN 795 must be used in
association with this fall arrester.
B - FULLBODY HARNESS

4. Inspect for any signs of damage, deterioration, distress, oxidation on seams, buckles and straps.
If any damage or doubt, remove the harness from service or send back to the manufacturer for inspection.
C - USE
Warning : The retractable fall arrester with rescue device must be used only for vertical access.
After checking above-mentioned points (A and B), connect the end of the fall arrest lanyard to the fullbody harness
with the automatic connector (EN362) integrated to the lanyard. The fullbody harness must be connected exclusively to the
correct attachment point of the fullbody harness (refer to the instructions of use of the harness).
Before and during use, make sure that a rescue plan can be carried out in safe and reliable conditions if
necessary
ACCESS
Vertical access : ensure that the total length of the lanyard is compatible with the working distance. Always use
-
a device which has 2 meter lanyard length longer than the total working distance.
Lateral access: lateral access must not exceed 30° from the ancho r point located directly overhead.
-
-
During use : The user must move at normal speed since acceleration, jumps etc.. can cause the retractable
fall arrester to lock. The lanyard must always be tight. In case of slack, send the device to the manufacturer for
inspection.
NECESSARY MINIMUM CLEARANCE : minimum clearance is a mimum of 2,4 meters below user's feet.
MANDATORY RETURN TO THE MANUFACTURER FOR INSPECTION :
-
After a fall
In case of doubt about the safety condition of the device (damage on cable, housing, connectors or bad working
-
conditions)
D - USE OF THE RESCUE DEVICE
During normal use, the black handle of the device must not be mounted on the arm of the fall arrester.
When necessary and in order to rescue proceed as follows:
1. Remove the plastic cover (Pict 1 and 2)

raising. To lower, operate the handle in the opposite direction of the raising sense. Should you stop the raising or
lowering operation, an automatic brake will stop and restrain the user in a stop position.
4. Once the user is rescued and secured on the floor, you can remove the black handle from the arm.
5. After retrieval, send back the device to the manufacturer or its authorised agent for inspection.

obligatory periodic thorough inspection for some P.P.E., especially those providing personal protection against falls
from a height.
After consulting the "Ministère du Travail - Sous direction Machines" (Ministry of Employment * Machines Sub-Division),
it is formally confirmed that these inspections are the full and complete responsibility of the employer. This responsibility
covers:
-
the type of P.P.E. inspected
-
the appointment of a skilled person
his training
-
-
the decisions to recommission or not
