Instructions for use
Always observe the safety instructions
and applicable regulations.
Putting the unit into operation
• Ensure that the tank is drained properly.
• Ensure that the drain valve is closed.
• Check that the safety valves are functioning properly.
• Check the condition of the connector.
• Connect the air hose to the unit and adjust the air
pressure.
• Switch on the unit.
• Allow the unit to build up pressure. The motor
automatically stops running as soon as the cut-
out pressure has been reached.
• The motor automatically starts running as soon
as the tank pressure drops below the cut-out
pressure.
Putting the unit out of operation
• Switch off the unit.
• Allow the unit to cool down.
• Shut the air pressure adjustment knob and
disconnect the air hose.
• Drain the tank.
Switching on and off (fig. A)
• To switch the unit on, pull the switch (1) into
position I.
• To switch the unit off, push the switch (1) into
position 0.
Always switch off the unit before
unplugging.
Overload protection (fig. G)
The unit has an overload protector: in case of motor
overheat, the power supply to the motor will be cut off.
• Switch the unit off and wait for the motor to cool
down.
• Press the current cut out reset button (16) firmly
until a click is heard.
• Switch the unit on. The unit is ready again for
operation.
Optional accessories
Depending on the application, the following
accessories may be required:
• An air-line filter for removal of moisture and oil
vapor in compressed air.
• An in-line lubricator to prolong the life of air tools.
Consult your dealer for further information on the
appropriate accessories.
Maintenance
Your D WALT power tool has been designed to

operate over a long period of time with a minimum
of maintenance. Continuous satisfactory operation
depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.
• As a precaution regularly check for the following
conditions:
- leaks to the tank
- unusual noise or vibration to the running motor
Draining the tank (fig. H)
Before fitting an air hose or performing any
maintenance, or when putting the unit out of
operation, the tank must be drained.
• Take hold of the drain valve screw (17) and
slowly rotate the screw so as to gradually bleed
air from the tank.
• When the pressure is at 0.7 bar, turn the valve
into the fully open position to remove any
moisture or dirt out of the tank.
• Check whether the tank pressure gauge reads
0 bar to be sure the pressure is off the tank.
• Close the drain valve.
Checking the air filter (fig. I)
The air filter (18) must be checked on a weekly
basis. After 50 hours the air filter must be replaced.
• Remove the air filter from the pump head.
• If the element is dirty, clean it with dry air. If in
doubt, replace the filter.
• Re-fit the filter.
Checking the safety relief valve operation (fig. J)
The safety relief valve (19) must be checked on a
monthly basis.
• Ensure that the pressure is off the tank.
• Take hold of the wire ring (20) on the safety valve.
• Pull the ring a few times to ensure the plunger
moves in and out.
