4.4 Charging the storage battery

The unit may be charged via a 230 V
mains outlet using the 230 V charging
mains adapter

Press the battery test button
check the charge of the internal
storage battery with the voltmeter
The green voltmeter range indicates
the storage battery is charged. The red
or yellow range indicates the storage
battery should be charged.
Storage batteries will automatically
discharge during periods of non-use.
Storing the equipment with a drained or
low storage battery can shorten the life
of the storage battery. Therefore
regularly check the charge and try to
keep the storage battery fully charged.
NOTE: the storage battery only reaches
its full capacity after several discharge
/ charging cycles.
The equipment is supplied with the
storage battery already charged.
However, charge the storage battery
for 24 hours prior to first use.
4.4.1 Charging by 230 V charging
mains adapter
▪ Connect the small round plug on the
charging mains adapter
connection socket
▪ Plug the charging mains adapter into
a 230 V mains outlet.
▪ The charging indicator (red LED)
will light up, indicating charging.
Charging takes approx. 10 – 12 hours.
Press the battery test button
check the charging progress.

4.4.2 Charging by 12 V car charger

▪ Connect the small round plug on the
12 V car charger

▪ Insert the plug for the 12 V car socket
into your vehicle's 12 V outlet (ciga-
rette lighter receptacle).
▪ The charging indicator (red LED) will
light up, indicating charging.
Charging takes approx. 20 hours.
Press the battery test button
check the charging progress.
▪ Once charging is completed discon-
nect the 12 V car charger from the
vehicle's 12 V outlet (cigarette lighter
receptacle) and the unit.
NOTE: the vehicle's battery may drain
when charging by 12 V car charger!
NOTE: charging by 12 V car charger
whilst driving in a vehicle always be
sure the unit is secured inside the
vehicle according to the applicable
laws (e.g. Highway Code)!
