CUE MODE:
Cue points and loops can be stored to the permanent memory (see chapter HOW TO USE). When you
select a track, with cue data stored in the permanent memory, you can choose one of the following options:
 Autoload: cue points will be loaded automatically, the player will be ready once the cue points are all
loaded.
 First Ask: the display will first ask you if you want to load the stored cue data, you have 3 options:
 Press YES: the cue points/loops are loaded, the player will be ready once this is done.
 Press NO: the player will not load the cue data and is immediately ready for use.
 Press PLAY: playback starts immediately, no cue data is loaded.
MIXER MODE:
You can use the USB900 as a standalone unit or as a Twin MP3-player, very similar to a Twin CD-player.
You can select 3 different modes:
 Internal: the internal mixer is used. You can connect the mixed output (32) of the USB900 directly to
an amplifier or a set of powered speaker cabinets.
 Ext + Tone: the internal mixer is not used but the tone controls are still available. Select this mode
while using the USB900 with a small mixer that doesn't have tone controls on the input channels.
Each player must be connected to a separate input channel on the mixer.
 Ext - Tone: the internal mixer and tone controls are not used. Select this mode while using the
USB900 with a mixer that has tone controls on the input channels. Each player must be connected to
a separate input channel on the mixer.
Remark: the headphone output does not work when the mixer mode is set to "Ext + Tone" or "Ext – Tone"
CUE SYSTEM:
You can select 2 different CUE systems on the USB900, simply choose the one that suits best for you:
 BPM/TAP: the BPM/CUE button (5) can be used to manually TAP the beat, to return to automatic
BPM counting just press the BPM/CUE button until the display shows "AUTO BPM". Turn the CUE
PAN knob (28) to the left to hear the cue signal of the left player or turn it to the right to hear the cue
signal of the right player.
 CUE on/off: the BPM/CUE button (5) can be used to send the cue signal of the player to the
headphones or not. Turn the CUE PAN knob (28) to the left to hear the cue signals of the players or
turn it to the right to hear the mixed output.
CROSSFADER:
When you select "MIXER MODE = Internal" you can choose if you want to use the crossfader or not.
FIRMWARE:
Press YES to show the current firmware version on the display. You can upgrade the firmware by simply
downloading the newest version from our website. Follow the points below to perform the upgrade:
 Download the newest firmware from www.jbsystems.be
 Extract the ZIP-file and copy the two ".bin" files to the SD-card.
 Select FIRMWARE in the setup menu of player1 (left player) and turn the jog wheel until the display shows
"Start Upgrade"
 Use the "source select button" (16) of player1 to set it to "card-slot A" (14)
 Press the YES button (5)
 Insert the SD-card with the new firmware in "card-slot A".
 The upgrade starts: the display shows "updating now" followed by "UpdateUIxx" where "xx" changes during
the programming process. When the new firmware is programmed, the display shows "REMOVE THE
POWER SUPPLY SHORTLY TO COMPLETE THE UPGRADE".
 Important: don't switch the unit off but simply remove the 6V DC-adapter from the power supply input (34)
for about 5seconds.
 Reconnect the 6V DC-adapter and switch the USB900 back on.
 Check the version number of the new firmware in the setup menu
 Done!
Remark: If you only copied one of the two ".bin" files to the SD-card for upgrading, the display messages
during the update can be a little different from the ones described. However we strongly advice you always
copy the two ".bin" files in the ZIP file. Please note that mixing ".bin" files with different software versions
(coming from different ZIP-files) can cause serious problems in the USB900!

HOW TO USE ...
Most of the common functions are explained in the previous chapter "controls and functions" In this chapter
we talk about the functions that need a little more explanation.
ABOUT SOME GENERAL FUNCTIONS
UPGRADING THE FIRMWARE
To keep your USB900 up-to-date, you can always download the latest firmware version from
www.jbsystems.be and program it in the unit. Please refer to "FIRMWARE" in the chapter SETUP MENU to
learn how to do this.
RANDOM FUNCTION
On the left player (player1) all tracks of one memory device will be played in random order. First choose the
desired Source with the SOURCE SELECT button (16). Press the RANDOM button (8) for about 1,5sec to
activate the random function. Press the PLAY button (2) to start playback. All special functions are disabled
but if you don't like the track currently playing, you can simply press the TRACK Knob (11) to skip to the next
song. To stop the random function, just press the RANDOM button (8) again for about 1,5seconds.
PS: The right player (player2) stays fully functional so it can be used to play files from any of the 4 connected
memory devices.
PITCH BENDING:
This function is used to put the beats of two tracks in perfect sync. During play mode the JOG WHEEL will
temporarily bend the pitch of the music by turning the JOG WHEEL clockwise to speed up or
counterclockwise to slowdown. The rotation speed the JOG WHEEL determines the percent of pitch bend. In
the SETUP MENU you can adapt the impact of the jog wheel on the pitch bend function.
PLAYING MP3 FILES:
This player can play several sub formats of the MP3-format, see the technical specifications for more
information. The MP3-files may have the following file extensions: .mp3 ~ .MP3 ~ .mP3 ~ .Mp3 and can be
saved in subdirectories. You are only allowed to make subdirectories in the root (main) directory, nested
directories are not allowed. You can play the same track at the same time on both players to create special
effects or make a remix of that song.
FOLDER / TRACK SELECTORS:
To keep things manageable you can sort your MP3 files in different subfolders (directories). These folders
can be named after the names of the performers, after the music genres (techno, slows, salsa ...), the BPM
count (100BPM, 110BPM, 120BPM ...) or any other idea you have to sort your music...
Some examples:
Sorted by GENRE
Sorted by BPM
With the FOLDER / TRACK selectors you can easily browse through the different folders and tracks. Press
the FOLDER knob (12) for about 1,5sec to toggle between FOLDER mode and TRACK mode:
 FOLDER MODE: use the FOLDER selector to select the desired folder. With the TRACK selector you
can select the desired MP3 track in this folder. Note that you can only select tracks inside the selected
folder. To go to another folder just use the FOLDER selector.
 TRACK MODE: you will be able to browse all the tracks on your SD-card as if no subfolders were
present. To move quickly (by 10tracks) through the SD-Card, press the TRACK selector while turning it
forward/backward.
