Ash removal / Note
The fireplace is emptied of the ash only after it has cooled down beforehand. It should be remembered
that the ash accumulated in the combustion chamber may remain hot even after a few hours after the
fireplace is extinguished. Protective gloves should be used during this operation.
When emptying the fireplace, remove the accumulated ash with a metal dustpan into a non-flam-
mable container. In the case of fireplace stoves equipped with an ashtray, it must be emptied with
protective gloves. The level of ash filling of the fireplace must be checked regularly, as the supply of
combustion air is limited if there is excess ash. In addition, in appliances equipped with a grate with
an ashtray, the excess of ash limits the process of cooling the grate, which in turn causes its damage.
Moreover, leaving the ash in the ash drawer for a longer period of time will cause chemical corrosion
of the ashtray.
Extinguishing the fireplace stove in the event of fire and fireplace failure
In cases of slow combustion and burning of wood with high humidity, organic combustion products
(soot and water vapour) are produced in excess, forming creosote in the smoke duct, which can be
ignited. In this case, the chimney duct burns rapidly (high flame and high temperature) - referred to as
a chimney fire. In this case, the air supply to the unit must be cut off and the glass, if fitted, closed. Then
check the correctness of closing the door and notify the nearest Fire Service unit.
If the fireplace stove fails, open the door of the fireplace stove to cool down the combustion chamber
as quickly as possible. Do this by opening all windows in the room where the fireplace stove is installed.
If necessary, the fire can be extinguished with a fire extinguisher or sand. Under no circumstances sho-
uld the fireplace be flooded with water. The excess burning fuel can also be placed in a non-flammable
container and taken outside the building with special precautions.
Recognition of faults and how to deal with them
During the operation of the fireplace stove, there may be some anomalies indicating malfunctioning
of the stove. This can be caused by incorrect installation of the fireplace stove without complying with
current legislation or the provisions of this manual or for external reasons such as the environment.
The following are the most common causes of improper operation of the fireplace stove and how to
solve them.
