DC voltage measurements

Set the rotary switch to the highest or - if already
known - to the suitable DCV position. Overflow, i. e.
if the range is chosen too low, is displayed with "1"
or "-1".
The max. admissible voltage is 1000 V!
Reversed polarity in relation to the measuring jacks is
displayed as a minus sign. Mixing up of the measur-
ing cables with each other is not dangerous.
Confusing the measuring jacks can lead to the
destruction of the object to be tested and maybe also
of the multimeter:
With voltage measurements the red measuring
cable must be plugged into the corresponding VΩmA
jack. If it is accidentally plugged into the 10 A current
jack which is not fused, then the applied measuring
voltage is short-circuited by the 10 A shunt of the mul-
timeter. There may also occur damage to the multi-
meter.
Important: Only use the 10 A current jack if it is
really necessary. After the measurement immediately
plug the red cable back into the VΩmA jack!
