intervals: Switch off the tool and wait until the
plane reached a complete standstill. Do not put
down the tool until then and pull out the power
plug. Take off the dust bag (1) and dust cover
(6). Remove the waste from the dust chamber
with a piece of wood – do not reach into the dust
chamber with your hands. Now empty the dust
bag (see following section).
Emptying the dust bag: Open the zip fastener
(a) on the dust bag and pour the planing waste
into a waste bin. Wipe off any dust caught on the
collar of the dust bag (1). The zip fastener (a)
can now be closed again. Then connect the dust
bag (1) and dust cover (6) to the electric plane
again. The dust bag (1) must be emptied appro-
ximately every 5 minutes.
You can also connect external extractors to the
electric plane; the suction hose must connect
properly to the suction connector on the plane
and be suitable for this type of use. The internal
diameter of the suction hose if 34 mm. Use a
special vacuum cleaner if you are handling harm-
ful materials, such as special coatings.
Dust created when working may be dangerous.
Refer to the section entitled "Safety instructions".
Special regulations apply for extraction equip-
ment if you are using the tool for commercial pur-
poses. Discuss the requirements with your pro-
fessional association if necessary.
6. CLEANING, MAINTENANCE AND
SPARE PARTS
Always pull out the mains power plug before starting
any cleaning work.
6.1 Cleaning
Clean the tool at regular intervals with a damp
cloth and some soft soap (remove the dust,
chips, splinter, etc.). We recommend that you
clean the tool immediately after you use it.
Do not use cleaning agents or solvents; these
may be aggressive to the tool's plastic parts.
Ensure that no water can get into the interior of
the tool.
6.2 Maintenance
There are no parts inside the equipment which
require additional maintenance.
6.3 Replacing the carbon brushes
If the electric plane operates slowly or unevenly,

it may be necessary to replace the carbon brus-
hes.
Have the carbon brushes checked and replaced
only by a trained electrician.
6.4 Replacing the drive belt (Fig.11/ 12)
The belt should be replaced by a trained expert.
The drive belt (a) must be replaced if it is worn.
Undo the three screws (b) in the belt cover (7).
Pull the belt (a) off the belt pulleys. Now clean
the drive wheels (c / d).
Fit the replacement drive belt on to the small
drive wheel (d) first. Turn the drive belt (a) a little
and as you do so roll it on to the large belt pulley
(c).
