16.1

Maintenance intervals

Maintenance intervals depend on the ambient
conditions and the operating conditions. STIHL
recommends the following maintenance inter‐
vals:
After the first month or 25 hours of runtime:
► Lubricate the gearbox.
Every 50 hours of runtime thereafter:
► Lubricate the gearbox.
Annually
► Have hedge trimmer checked by a STIHL
authorized dealer.

Lubricating the gearbox

► Remove the screw plug (4).
► If no grease is visible on the end of the screw
plug (4):
► Pull out the plug (1) of the STIHL grease
gun (3).
► Fill the STIHL grease gun (3) with STIHL
gear grease (2) until it is two-thirds full.
► Insert the plug (1) in the STIHL grease gun
(3).
► Hold the STIHL grease gun (3) against the
lubrication hole.
► Squeeze 5 g of STIHL gear grease from the
STIHL grease gun (3) into the gear housing.
► Pull out the STIHL grease gun (3).
► Insert and tighten the screw plug (4) securely.
16.3 Sharpening the cutting blades
STIHL recommends you have the cutting blades
resharpened by a STIHL dealer.

18 Troubleshooting

18.1 Troubleshooting the hedge trimmer or battery
