► Afterwards, remove the file gauge and file the
leading edge of the depth gauge parallel to the
service mark. When doing this, be careful not
to further lower the highest point of the depth
gauge.
► Lay the file gauge on the chain to check the

Chain saw
Many performance issues can be resolved with a few simple steps. When troubleshooting, STIHL rec‐
ommends that you start with the following measures:
► Clean the air filter,
► Clean or replace the spark plug,
► Adjust the saw's idle speed,
► If these measures do not resolve the issue, continue to the steps described below.
Always shut off the engine before carrying out any inspection, cleaning or maintenance.
Condition
The engine does not
start.
The engine idles
erratically.
The engine stops

Acceleration is poor.

The chain does not
rotate when throttle is

Possible Cause
There is insufficient fuel in the fuel
tank.
