The beeper increases in frequency the closer the multimeter is to the voltage
source.
1. Disconnect the test leads from the multimeter.
2. Rotate the dial to NCV.
3. Repeatedly press the button MODE until the display shows NCV and EF.
4. Approach the voltage source with the top part of the multimeter.
5. Observe the visual and aural indications.
à
If no voltage is detected, the display shows EF
à
If voltage is detected, the visual and aural indicators indicate the distance to
the voltage source.
6. Verify the presence or absence of voltage by a 2-pole measurement before
working on the electrical installation.
7. Switch the multimeter off by rotating the dial to the position OFF.
10.4 Detecting live wires
With the live-wire detection function you can detect live wires in alternating current
circuits.
1. Connect the red test lead to the measurement socket V mA.
2. Rotate the dial to NCV.
3. Repeatedly press the button MODE until the display shows Live and ----.
4. Touch the wire you want to test with the test probe.
à
If the wire is the live wire, you will hear beep sounds, the display shows
LIVE, and the indicator light flashes red.
5. Verify the presence or absence of voltage by a 2-pole measurement before
working on the electrical installation.
6. Switch the multimeter off by rotating the dial to the position OFF.
