Clinical benefits
The device enables the patient to walk, and also go downstairs naturally by allowing free
positioning of the prosthetic foot on the stair step, thereby enhancing safety. It provides the
same safety when going downhill.
The ankle joint enables the patient to wear shoes with a heel of up to 5 cm, or to walk barefoot.
Typically, thanks to SYNSYS, at an ambient temperature of 24°C, it will be possible to take the
stairs down 4 floors (60 alternate steps), walk 1 km on flat ground, go down a 40 m slope, and
continue on flat ground for another 1 km.
Once a smartphone has been paired with the prosthesis, the SYNSYS Smartphone app provides
access to activity information, and enables the patient to select footwear or change modes (§6
and §7). This app can be downloaded from the store.
Operation / instructions for use
Some features of this prosthesis can be viewed / modified via the Bluetooth link on a
smartphone and the SYNSYS Smartphone app. You must always be very careful when adjusting
via this app. The connection is secure: pairing authorization + confirmation, via the buttons on
the prosthesis. In case of a connection problem, check that the prosthesis is not already
connected by Bluetooth to another device.
The prosthesis can communicate by Bluetooth up to 10 m with a tablet or smartphone, for the
purposes of adjusting the settings, viewing the parameters and activity history; the distance
will vary according to any obstacles between the prosthesis and the smartphone.
It will take 2 minutes after disconnecting the Bluetooth for the static standing stabilization to
be active.
The smartphone used for Bluetooth communication with the prosthesis must comply with the
IEC or ISO security standards applicable to these devices (IEC60950-1 or IEC62368-1).
The App. SYNSY is intended for Android and Apple iOS devices.
To connect:
- The first time: activate Bluetooth on the smartphone and start the SYNSYS app; press and
hold the right-hand button for 3 seconds, with the knee bent. Once the prosthesis has
been detected, confirm the pairing by briefly pressing the right-hand button on the
prosthesis.
The following times: activate Bluetooth on the smartphone and start the SYNSYS app;

activate Bluetooth on the prosthesis by briefly pressing the right-hand button.
SYNSYS App has been designed to connect to iPhone 13,
iPhone 12, iPhone SE (2nd generation), iPhone SE (1st
generation).
