Tips For Making Tea

Depending on the variety, teas are infused with water at a different temperature in order
to bring out and preserve the ingredients and the fl avour of the particular variety. For this
reason, the different varieties also have infusion times of different lengths. The prepara-
tion instructions on the packaging should always be followed here.
Preparing Tea Concentrate
1. Pour tea leaves or a tea bag into a tea strainer or directly into the teapot (1).
Black tea: per cup approx. 1 teaspoon / tea bag for 1 – 2 cups
Green tea: approx. 1 g is added to 100 ml of water or 1 heaped teaspoon is added
to 200 ml
The more tea leaves or tea bags and the less water are poured into the teapot,
the stronger the tea concentrate will be.
In the case of tea bags, it is essential to note the manufacturer's preparation
instructions.
2. Take off the lid of the water reservoir (3) and place the teapot (1) on the opening of the
water reservoir. This will preheat the teapot while the water is boiling.
3. Follow the instructions in the "Preparation" chapter.
4. As soon as the water has boiled and the control lamp (9) lights up green, take the
teapot off the water reservoir.
5. Brew the tea in the teapot with boiling water from the water reservoir (see the
"Operation" chapter | "Operating the Discharge Tap").
6. Place the teapot back on the water reservoir. The steam rising up in the water
reservoir keeps the tea concentrate in the teapot at the temperature that it requires
for "infusion".
7. After the required infusion time, take the tea strainer or the tea bag(s) out of the pot.
8. Pour the concentrate that has been created in the teapot into a tea cup or a tea glass
and top it up with hot water from the water reservoir. This enables you to vary the
strength and the fl avour of the tea as you wish.
Green Tea
Green tea should not be brewed with boiling water. The higher quality the tea, the
lower the optimum water temperature. If necessary here, remove water from the de-
vice and allow it to cool down fi rst.
The infusion time differs depending on the quality of the tea. Most varieties need to
infuse for roughly 1 – 3 minutes.
Herbal Tea and Similar Tea Blends
In rare cases, herbal tea blends may contain germs (such as salmonella) which are
killed off by being heated. Herbal tea should therefore always be infused using boiling
water.
Depending on the variety, the different blends require an infusion time of approx.
5 – 10 minutes. Follow the instructions on the packaging!
Herbal tea blends also contain spores which can germinate in warm water. For this
reason, infused herbal tea should not be left standing for several hours.
