The measuring head for the Touch Taper uses circuit boards which are similar to those
found in data processing systems. The touch buttons on the measuring head are adjacent
with set lengths of tape. When a selection is made by touching a button, contact is made
in the circuit and the computer board measures the length of tape to be cut. The
measuring head consists of four fundamental electric units:
1. The power transformer for supplying low voltage
2. The switch finger plate and the diode logic board assembly
3. The computer board
4. The pulse switch and magnet
Line Voltage should be 115V, 50 - 60hz, or metric 220 - 240V, 50 - 60hz. When removing
or making solder connections, use a small hot iron. Work quickly so that the heat does
not damage adjacent parts. Check regularly for broken wires.
Solution:
1. Check the wiring to see if there are any
disconnected or frayed wires. Reconnect or repair
any damaged wires.
2. Test the thermostat and replace it if necessary. See
pages 55 and 57.
3. If the thermostat is functioning correctly, the heater
may need to be replaced. The best way to replace
the heater is to replace the brush tank plate
assembly, includes a new heater. See page 61.
