General features of the
Tychem ® TK. gas-tight suit
The Tychem ® TK. gas-tight suit is a one-piece Type 1a and
Type 1a-ET gas-tight limited use suit according to EN 943-
2:2002 designed to cover the wearer's whole body and breath-
ing apparatus.
A large semi-rigid visor is bonded to the suit giving
the wearer a good field of vision. The visor is manufactured
from materials designed to meet the requirements of
EN 943-2:2002 for gas-tight limited-use suits.
Exhalation valves are fitted which automatically release
any excess pressure that builds up inside the suit. Thus ensur-
ing that the pressure within the garment conforms to the
requirements of EN 943-2:2002 for gas-tight limited-use suits.
A 120 cm (48") long gas-tight zip is fitted to the right hand
side of the suit which enables easy donning or doffing of the
garment. The zip is covered over by two outer flaps which
must be fastened together by means of a Velcro strip once the
zip has been fully closed.
The inner legs of the suit are fitted with integral boot socks
whilst the outer legs have a plain hem and are designed to be
worn over the exterior of the wearer's safety boots. Alterna-
tively highly chemically resistant safety boots conforming to
EN 345:1992 can be permanently bonded to the suit.
DuPont supply the Tychem
glove system consisting of a laminated inner glove having
good chemical resistance ( NORTH Silver Shield
to an outer Neoprene glove affording protection against
mechanical abuse as well as having some degree of chemi-
cal resistance. The gloves are fitted to the suit by means of a
locking cone and grommet system. For technical data related
