3 Einsatzmöglichkeiten
Der PA-902CD ist zum Aufbau einer ELA-Anlage zur
allgemeinen Beschallung konzipiert. Die verschiede-
nen Ausgangsklemmen ermöglichen, je nach Bedarf,
unterschiedliche Lautsprecherkombinationen anzu-
schließen (siehe Abb. 4 – 10). Außerdem sind vielfäl-
tige Anschlußmöglichkeiten vorhanden, z. B. für eine
zusätzliche Gongtaste oder einen Lautstärkeregler
zur Ferneinstellung. Der integrierte, einstellbare
Kompressor begrenzt die Dynamik, um so einen für
ELA-Anlagen erforderlichen Wert zu erhalten (haupt-
sächlich bei der CD-Wiedergabe erforderlich).
4 Aufstellen des Verstärkers
Beim Einschub des Verstärker in ein Rack (482 mm/
19") werden 2 HE (Höheneinheiten) benötigt. Dabei
sollte jedoch ober- und unterhalb des Verstärkers
zusätzlich Platz frei bleiben, damit eine ausrei-
chende Belüftung sichergestellt ist. Damit das Rack
nicht kopflastig wird, muß der Verstärker im unteren
Bereich des Racks eingeschoben werden. Für eine
sichere Befestigung reichen die Montagewinkel
(11+ 22) alleine nicht aus. Zusätzlich müssen Seiten-
schienen oder eine Bodenplatte das Gerät halten.
Bei der Verwendung als Tischgerät können die
beiden Montagewinkel (11+ 22) abgeschraubt wer-
den. Beim Aufstellen ist darauf zu achten, daß die
Lüftungsschlitze nicht verdeckt werden und Luft
durch das Gerät zur Kühlung zirkulieren kann.

3 Applications

The PA-902CD has been designed to install a
system for general PA applications. Due to the differ-
ent output terminals various speaker combinations
may be connected, as required (see figs. 4 – 10).
Furthermore many connection facilities are pro-
vided, e. g. for an additional chime button or a
volume control for remote adjustment. By the inte-
grated, adjustable compressor the dynamic range is
limited to obtain a value necessary for PA systems
(mainly necessary for the CD replay).
4 Installation of the Amplifier
To insert the amplifier into a rack (482 mm/ 19"), two
rack spaces are necessary. Please watch that there
is additional space above and below the amplifier, so
that a sufficient ventilation is secured. In order to
avoid a heavy top load, the amplifier must be in-
serted in the lower range of the rack. For a safe fixing
the mounting brackets (11+12) alone are not suffi-
cient. In addition side rails or a bottom plate must
keep the unit.
For the use as a table top unit both mounting
brackets (11+ 22) can be screwed off. While installing
watch that the ventilation slots are not covered. To
cool the unit, there must be an air circulation inside.

5 Verstärker anschließen
Alle Ein- und Ausgänge nur bei ausgeschaltetem
Gerät anschließen!

5.1 Lautsprecher

Der Umschalter OUTPUT (23) darf nur beim An-
schluß an die Kontakte „4 Ω" (Abb. 4, 7 + 9) in Posi-
tion „DIRECT 4 Ω" stehen. Bei allen anderen
Anschlußmöglichkeiten den Schalter (23) in Position
„TRANSFORMER" schieben.
Die Anschlußmöglichkeiten für die Lautsprecher
sind in Abb. 4 – 10 dargestellt. Je nach Gegebenheit
sind sie an die Schraubanschlüsse (38) anzu-
schließen. Dabei ist auf die richtige Einzel- bzw.
Gesamtimpedanz der Lautsprecher und auf die rich-
tige Polung der Lautsprecher zu achten (Plus- und
Minusanschlüsse, wie in Abb. 4 – 10 gezeigt). Der
Plusanschluß der Lautsprecherkabel ist immer
besonders gekennzeichnet.
Bei der Verwendung von ELA-Lautsprechern mit
Audiotransformator sind Anschlüsse für 25-V-, 50-V-
und 100-V-Technik vorhanden. Der Anschluß 100 V
kann bei Bedarf von einer Fachwerkstatt im Gerät
auf der Lautsprecheranschlußplatte von 100-V- auf
70-V-Technik umgesteckt werden.
Bei ELA-Lautsprechern mit Audiotransformator
(Abb. 6) darf die Gesamtbelastung durch alle
Lautsprecher nicht mehr als 80 W Sinus betra-
gen, sonst wird der Verstärker überlastet. Er kann
dann beschädigt werden.
5.2 Eingänge
An die beiden 6,3-mm-Klinkenbuchsen (45 + 48)
kann je ein Mikrofon oder ein Gerät mit Line-Pegel
(z. B. Kassettenrecorder, Tuner) angeschlossen
werden. Beim Anschluß eines Mikrofons darf der
Umschalter (46 bzw. 49) nicht gedrückt sein, bei
Geräten mit Line-Pegel muß er gedrückt werden.
An dem symmetrischen Line-Eingang STACKING
IN (43) kann z. B. ein Mischpult angeschlossen wer-
den. Die Lautstärke vom diesem Eingang ist nur mit
dem Master-Regler (8) regelbar, d. h. zum Mischen

Connect all inputs and outputs only with the unit
switched off!
5.1 Speakers
The selector switch OUTPUT (23) must only be in
position "DIRECT 4 Ω" to connect the contact "4 Ω"
(figs. 4, 7 + 9). With all other connections push the
switch (23) in position "TRANSFORMER".
The connections for the speakers are shown in
figs. 4 – 10. According to requirements connect them
to the screw connections (38). Watch the correct
individual resp. total impedance of the speakers and
the correct polarity of the speakers (positive and
negative connections, as shown in figs. 4 – 10). The
positive connection of the speaker cables is always
especially marked.
For the use of PA speakers with audio transfor-
mers, connections for 25 V, 50 V, and 100 V techni-
que are provided. If necessary, the connection100 V
can be converted from 100 V to 70 V technique on
the speaker connection board inside the unit by au-
thorized personnel.
With PA speakers with audio transformers (fig. 6)
the total power drawn by all speakers must not
exceed 80 W , otherwise the amplifier is over-

loaded. Then it may be damaged.
5.2 Inputs

To both / " jacks (45 + 48) one microphone or one

unit with line level (e. g. cassette recorder, tuner)
may each be connected. While connecting a micro-
phone, the selector switch (46 resp. 49) must not be
depressed, with units with line level it must be
depressed.
At the balanced line input STACKING IN (43) a
mixer may e. g. be connected. The volume of this
input can only be adjusted with the master control
(8), i. e. for mixing with the other channels the
volume must be adjusted at the connected unit.

5.3 CD-Ausgang/Aufnahmemöglichkeiten/
weitere Verstärker
Zur Aufnahme von CDs oder zur weiteren Nutzung
des CD-Spielersignals ist der Stereo-Direktausgang
CD OUT (24) vorhanden. Dieser Ausgang ist unbe-
einflußt von allen Reglereinstellungen und Gong-
Einblendungen.
Sollen alle Kanäle auf einen Recorder aufgenom-
men werden (jedoch ohne Gong-Einblendungen),
das Aufnahmegerät an die Buchse REC OUT (27)
anschließen. Die Aufnahme erfolgt in Mono. Beim
Betätigen der Gongtaste (19) wird das Aufnahme-
signal aus- und eingeblendet.
Werden für größere ELA-Anlagen weitere Ver-
stärker benötigt, so können diese an den Ausgang
LINE OUT (25) angeschlossen werden. An diesem
Ausgang liegt ein Signal an, wie es auch zu den
Lautsprechern gelangt.
5.4 Anschluß von Effektgeräten
Für Effektgeräte (z. B. Equalizer) ist das Anschluß-
feld SEND / RETURN vorhanden. Das Effektgerät
kann über die Cinch-Buchsen AMP IN (28) für den
Effektgeräte-Ausgang und PRE OUT (30) für den
Effektgeräte-Eingang angeschlossen werden oder
über die 6,3-mm-Klinkenbuchse (29). Die Anschluß-
belegung für den erforderlichen Klinkenstecker ist in
Abb. 11 dargestellt (Ground = Masse, Return = Ef-
fektgeräte-Ausgang, Send = Effektgeräte-Eingang).
5.5 Fernregler für die Master-Lautstärke
Zur Fernreglung der Master-Lautstärke kann ein
Potentiometer (5 – 50 kΩ neg. log.) an den Schraub-
anschlüssen REMOTE (41) angeschlossen werden.
Zuerst die Brücke (40) zwischen den Anschlüssen
„+10 V" und „C" entfernen. Den Schleifer des Poten-
tiometers mit dem Anschluß „C" verbinden. Den
Regler MASTER (8) am Verstärker auf die maximal
gewünschte Lautstärke aufdrehen.
5.3 CD output/recording facilities/further
amplifiers
To record CDs or for further use of the CD player sig-
nal, the stereo direct output CD OUT (24) is pro-
vided. This output is independent of all control
adjustments and chime fading-in.
If all channels are to be recorded on one recorder
(however, without chime fading-in), connect the
recording unit to the jack REC OUT (27). The
recording mode is mono. While pushing the chime
button (19), the recording signal is faded out and in.
If for larger PA systems further amplifiers are
required, these may be connected to the output
LINE OUT (25). At this output there is a signal as it is
arriving at the speakers.
5.4 Connection of effect units
For effect units (e. g. equalizer) the connection field
SEND/RETURN is provided. The effect unit may be
connected via the phono jacks AMP IN (28) for the
effect unit output and PRE OUT (30) for the effect

unit input or via the / " jack (29). The pin connection

5.5 Remote control for the master volume
For the remote control of the master volume a
potentiometer (5 – 50 kΩ neg. log.) may be con-
nected to the screw connections REMOTE (41). At
first remove the jumper between the connections
"+10 V" and "C". Connect the slider of the potentio-
meter with the connection "C". Turn up the control
MASTER (8) at the amplifier to the max. desired
volume.
