• For measurements in the measurement categories CAT III and
CAT IV, the cover caps must be placed on the probe tips to avoid
accidental short circuits during the measurement. Push the cover
caps onto the probe tips until they click into place. To remove the
caps, pull them off the tips with some force. Make sure during
every measurement that the connections/measurement points do
not touch. Risk of a short!
• Prior to each measurement, check your meter and its measuring leads for
damage(s). Never take any measurements if the protecting insulation is defective
(torn, missing, etc.). The provided measuring cables have a wear indicator. If they
are damaged, a second insulation layer of a different colour becomes visible. The
measuring accessory may not be used anymore and must be replaced.
• Avoid operation in the immediate vicinity of strong magnetic or electromagnetic
fields or transmission antennae or RF generators, since these can falsify the
measured value.
• If you have reason to assume that safe operation is no longer possible, discon-
nect the device immediately and secure it against inadvertent operation. Safe
operation can no longer be assumed if:
- the device is visibly damaged,
- the device does not function any more and
- the device has been stored under adverse conditions or
- it was exposed to heavy loads during transport.
• In commercial institutions, the accident prevention regulations of the Employer's
Liability Insurance Association for Electrical Systems and Operating Materials are
to be observed.
• In schools, training centres, computer and self-help workshops, use of the meter
must be supervised by trained personnel in a responsible manner.
