• Prior to each measurement, check your instrument and the measuring leads for
damage. Never carry out measurements if the product and/or the measurement
leads are damaged!
• Do not use the appliance shortly before, during or shortly after a thunderstorm
(lightning strike; high-energy over-voltages!).
• Before each measurement, set the desired measurement function on the meter. A
wrong measurement could destroy the product!
• Before measuring voltages, always make sure that the meter is not set to a differ-
ent measurement function.
• Before changing the measuring range, the test probes have to be removed from
the measured object.
• To eliminate the risks of electric shock, do not directly or indirectly touch the con-
nections/measuring points during measurements. During measuring, do not grip
beyond the tactile grip range markings on the test probes.
• Remove the dust protection caps on the connection plugs before connecting the
measuring leads. Always replace these after each measurement to avoid soiling
of the contacts.
• For each measurement, pay attention to the descriptions and figures in the
individual chapter. A wrong measurement could destroy the product.
• The voltage between the connection points of the meter may not exceed the
voltage given in the chapter "Technical Data".
• The voltage between the meter's connection points and earth must never exceed
600 V in CAT IV.
• Be especially careful when dealing with voltage >33 V/AC or >70 V/DC! Even
at these voltages, there is a danger of fatal electric shock if you touch electric
conductors.
• Never touch the probe tips during a measurement!
• When the measuring leads are used without cover caps, measurements may not
be carried out above measurement category CAT II.
