SPECIAL PROVISIONS
1
Item forming the subject of this decision and scope of use/application
(1) This decision concerns factory-produced containers in accordance with Annex 1, consisting of
a blow-moulded inner container made of polyethylene (PE-HD) and an outer container (collection
container) made of galvanised sheet steel. The containers are manufactured with a capacity of
750 l or 1000 l. There are four nozzles attached to the top of the containers to attach equipment
for filling, ventilation, protection against overfilling, emptying and, if applicable, level control. The
containers are placed on steel base frames. The gap (between the inner container and the
collection container) is equipped with a leak probe to detect any leaks that may occur.
(2) The containers may only be used as individual containers in rooms within buildings, but must
not be used in Zone 0 or 1 which are potentially explosive areas. When used in areas prone to
flooding, the containers must be positioned in such a way that the floodwater cannot reach them.
(3) The containers may be used at temperatures of the stored liquids of 30°C for stationary,
pressureless storage of the water-polluting liquids as listed below (although brief periods during
which the temperature exceeds this by 10 K (e.g. due to the higher temperature of the stored
liquids during filling) are permissible):
1. Fuel oil EL as described in DIN 51603-1
1
;
2. Fuel oil DIN 51603 - 6 EL A Bio 5 to Bio 15 as described in DIN SPEC 51603-6
addition of FAME in accordance with DIN EN 14214
components;
3. Diesel fuel as described in DIN EN 590
;
4
4. Fatty acid methyl esters as described in DIN EN 14214
5. Lubricating, hydraulic or Q heat transfer oils, blended or pure, flash point > 55°C;
6. Lubricating, hydraulic or Q heat transfer oils, used, flash point > 55°C; the operator must be
able to provide evidence of the origin and the flash point;
7. Plant-based oils such as cotton seed, olive, rapeseed, castor or wheat germ oil in any
concentration, which are not used as food or in the manufacture of food;
8. Photochemicals (commercially available), in use concentration (new and used) with a max.
density of 1.15 g/cm
3
; only in containers whose metal parts have an additional protective
coating.
(4) Mixing of the liquids being stored is not permissible.
(5) This decision has been granted without prejudice to the provisions and the testing and approval
requirements set out in other areas of law.
(6) This decision takes account of the requirements for the item forming the subject of this decision
under water law. According to Section 63(4)(2) and (3) of the German Federal Water Act
[Wasserhaushaltsgesetz, WHG]
5
the item forming the subject of this decision has therefore been
deemed suitable under water law.
(7) The period of validity of this decision (see page 1) relates to its application for the installation
or positioning of the item forming the subject of this decision and not to its application for the
subsequent use of that item.
