Testing of permanently installed RCCBs/RCDs
1
• Connect the IEC low-power cable to the IEC connection (10) on the GT-
6000.
• Connect the safety plug to an earthed socket protected by the RCCB/
RCD to be tested. Switch the RCCB/RCD on.
• Press the button (6) to start testing the RCCB/RCD.
• If the message "IEC Volt Error" appears, turn the safety plug in the socket
by 180°. Press the button (6) again to start the test.
• Switch the RCCB/RCD on again as soon as the symbol "rESEt" appears
on the display.
• The GT-6000 generates a fault current of 30 mA with positive (0°) or
negative (180°) initial polarity. The RCCB/RCD is tripped and the tripping
times of the single rated fault current are measured.
• If the tripping time is less than the limit value (200 ms), a tick symbol is
displayed next to the tripping time.
• The GT-6000 then generates a fault current of 150 mA with positive (0°)
or negative (180°) initial polarity. The RCCB/RCD is tripped and the trip-
ping times of the five-fold rated fault current are measured.
• If the tripping time is less than the limit value (40 ms), a tick symbol is displayed
next to the tripping time.
• The test is considered passed if "PASS" is shown on the display.
Generating a fault current of 30 mA proves that the RCCB triggers when the rated fault current is reached.
If the maximum contact voltage limit value of 50 V is exceeded, the symbol "UB > 50 V" appears on the
display and the test is stopped.
The measurement can be influenced by the following events:
- A voltage between the protective conductor of the earthed socket and earth
- Leakage currents in the circuit downstream of the RCCB/RCD
- Other earthing equipment
- Devices that are switched downstream of the RCCB/RCD circuit breaker and that cause a longer
tripping time, e.g. capacitors or rotating machines.
