Always switch off the machine and allow to come
s
to a stop before putting down.
Never allow children to use the machine.
s
Bosch is only able to ensure perfect functioning of
s
the machine if the original accessories intended for
it are used.

Before Use

Do not drill, fasten or cut into blind
areas where electric, gas or water
lines may exist. Use appropriate
detectors to determine if these
lines are hidden in the work area or
call the local utility company for as-
sistance.
Contacting electric lines may cause fire or electric
shock. Striking a gas line will probably result in explo-
sion. Breaking into a water pipe will cause property
damage or may cause an electric shock.
Always use the correct supply voltage!
The voltage of the power source must agree with the
value given on the nameplate of the machine. Ma-
chines designated for 230 V can also be operated with
220 V.
Changing the Drill Chuck
Do not carry the machine by the ex-
changeable drill chuck!
The SDS-plus replacement drill chuck can be easily
exchanged for the quick clamping replacement drill
chuck supplied with the drill hammer.
Hammer drilling and chiselling is possible only with
SDS-plus tools that can be inserted in the SDS-plus
replacement drill chuck.
Drilling and screwdriving is also possible with tools that
are not SDS-plus (e.g., round shaft drills, screwdriver
bits) which are clamped in the quick clamping replace-
ment drill chuck.
Removing the Exchangeable Drill Chuck
(Fig.
)
A
Danger of injury! Before removing the
exchangeable
move the tool or bit.
Grasp the locking ring 6 of the SDS-plus exchangea-
ble drill chuck and pull forcefully in the direction of the
arrow. The exchangeable drill chuck comes off.
Attaching the Replacement Drill Chuck
(Fig.
)
B
Grasp the quick clamping replacement drill chuck with
the whole hand. Place it with a twisting motion on the
chuck holder until it can clearly be heard to latch. The
replacement drill chuck locks itself.
Check locking by pulling on the replacement drill
chuck.
Make replacements in a corresponding manner.

Maintenance of the Exchangeable Drill Chuck
Keep the connecting parts free of dust. Lubrication is
not necessary.
Tool Changing (Fig. C–G)
Take care that the dust protection cap 4 is not
damaged when changing tools.
SDS-plus Tools
The SDS-plus tool is designed to be freely movable.
This causes eccentricity when the machine is off-load.
However, the drill automatically centres itself during
operation. This does not affect drilling precision.
Inserting (Fig.
Clean and lightly oil the tool before inserting.
Insert the dust-free tool into the tool holder 3 with
twisting until it latches.
The tool locks itself. Check the locking by pulling on
the tool.
Removing (Fig.
Pull the locking sleeve 5 to the rear (a) and hold while
removing the tool (b).
Srewdriver Bits (Fig.
For screwdriver bits, use the SDS-plus adapter 14 (op-
tional accessory).
Tools without SDS-plus
Do not use tools without SDS-plus for hammer
drilling or chiselling!
Tool Insertion (Fig.
Hold the holding ring 16 firmly and turn the front collar
15 until the tool holder is open wide enough.
Insert the tool, hold firmly the holding ring 16 and turn
the collar 15 in the direction of the arrow until it latches.
Then clamp the tool by continuing to turn forcefully un-
til ratcheting sounds can clearly be heard.
Check the seating by pulling on the tool.
Note:
After opening the tool holder to the stop, it can happen
during the subsequent closing that the functional
ratcheting sound is heard and the tool holder does not
close.
By turning the sleeve 15 opposite to the direction of
the arrow, this ratcheting sound is switched off and the
tool holder can be closed.
For screwdriver bits, insert a commercially available bit
holder. Stick the screwdriver bits into the bit holder.
Use only screwdriver bits that fit the screw heads.
Screwdriver bits may also be inserted without a bit
holder.
Tool Removal (Fig.
To remove a tool from the quick clamping replacement
drill chuck, hold firmly the holder ring 16 and turn the
front collar 15 in the direction of the arrow until the tool
can be removed.
