ENGINE START

(Fig.12)
In order to start the engine, proceed as
follows:
1 ) Insert the ignition key in the start switch
and turn into position 1 (see diagram).
2) Turn the key further into position 2, and
when engine has started, release.
N.B.: When engine is running, leave the
ignition key in position 1 in order to allow the
battery recharge. When engine is switched
off, turn the key in rest position 0 in order not
to discharge the battery.
ATTENTION - In order to start the
engine manually, the ignition key
must be inserted and turned into
the first click.

BATTERY

For maximum performance of the battery,
carry out the following operations:
- Check the electrolyte level often; this must
be done with engine switched off, machine
on a flat surface and battery at rest.
- If necessary, top up with distilled water; the
fluid must cover the vertical plates in each
battery compartment.
- If the battery needs refilling too often, apply
to a specialised workhouse.
- Check that the battery terminal cables are
well connected to the battery poles; always
use wrenches (and never pliers) to screw or
unscrew the terminal nuts.
- After having connected the terminals,
smear with Vaseline.
- Keep the battery dry and clean, especially
at the top.
- During brief stops leave engine running;
frequent start-ups need a considerable
amount of current delivery.
- Never discharge the battery completely. If
the machine is to remain unused for more
than two months, it is best remove the battery
and store it in a dry place and recharge
regularly.

SWITCHING-OFF ENGINE (Fig. 10)
- Bring the gear control rod (8) into idle
position and disengage P.T.O. (7) ( Fig. 2).
- Release the MOTORSTOP lever (1).
The engine is now stopped; proceed with the
operations shown in the enclosed Use and
Maintenance engine manual.
N.B. In the electric start versions make
sure that the circuit is voltage free so as
to avoid battery discharging (pos. 0, FIG.
12 ).
TEMPORARY STOP OF THE
MOTORCULTIVATOR (Fig. 2)
Stop of the power take-off alone
- Pull the clutch lever fully (2) and bring the
P T.O. Iever (7) into idle position.
Drive and P.T.O. stop
- Pull the clutch lever fully (2) and bring the
gear control rod (8) into idle position.
Temporary stop of the motorcultivator
- Pull the clutch control lever (2) only for the
time needed in order to avoid damaging the
clutch.
BRAKING THE MOTORCULTIVATOR
In the brakes version, the motorcultivator is
equipped with independent brakes that are
activated with levers (4-5). By locking one
or other lever, the motocultivator's travel
direction will change suddenly with no need
to operate exclusively on the handlebar;
this facilitates maneouvres in bad working
terrains.
